Today during its E3 presentation, Nintendo announced the Amiibo figurine line, a series of NFC figurines we’ve seen rumored in the past. The figurines are unique in that information can be sent back to them, so stats gathered throughout the game can be sent back to the figurine so it evolves.
Super Smash Bros. Wii U will be the first game that supports these figurines, but Nintendo is also working on support for Mario Kart 8. There will be more information on these figurines released in the future.
