Poll: which console manufacturer “won” E3 2014?

E3-header-home-featured-image-2014-640x254

So all three console manufacturers have their E3 2014 press conferences in the books, and by now we’ve had a bit of time to let it all settle in. Ready for the obligatory and annual “who won” parade? Each manufacturer brought the goods in a big way, but we want to know what you thought of all the press conferences. I’ll kick things off with my own personal take.

Microsoft

Games. Games. Games. Phil Spencer said it before E3 — he wanted the Xbox One to be all about the games. We weren’t sure just how committed Microsoft was to that vision, but they seem to have stayed true to their word. They didn’t mention anything about apps and TV. In fact, the only thing we heard from Microsoft about anything other than games was the Halo movie (which was just a quick 10 second mention between all the goodness that the Halo Master Chief Collection announcement brought us).

And not only was Microsoft’s approach quite nice, they also brought quite a bit in the games department. We finally got new gameplay footage of Insomniac’s Sunset Overdrive, Forza Horizon 2 got glossed over a bit, and Fable Legends’ co-op multiplayer mode whet our appetites a bit.

As far as new announcements, the aforementioned Master Chief Story will bring all Halo games between 1-4 in one package, with Halo 2 being completely remastered with all new graphics. It’s the same game we’ve all known and loved, except 10 times as pretty. And this package includes not only all the multiplayer maps that shipped with these games, but all the DLC that did in the months and years to follow their original launch. Get ready to fall in love all over again.

Other exciting bits included the reboots of Crackdown and Phantom Dust, the introduction of Scalebound, and trailers and gameplay for some great upcoming third party titles such as Rise of the Tomb Raider, Call of Duty Advanced Warfare, and Assassin’s Creed Unity. Last but not least, Conker is making his return… but not in the way you thought. He’ll be a featured prop and character in Microsoft’s game creation suite Project Spark. All in all it was a very solid showing by Microsoft (which is a far cry from several attempts of years past).

Sony

The most interesting conference to look out for on day one was Sony, though that’s typically because they’re always pressured to “respond” to Microsoft (as they always opt to go later in the day). So how did they fare?

Well, pretty decently. Sony started off strong with new Destiny footage and details (it’s being featured in a White PlayStation 4 bundle if you haven’t heard), and reiterated the fact that PS4 gamers would not only be getting first access to the beta, but also exclusive access to the game’s alpha ahead of launch.

We also got a quick teaser of From Software’s Bloodborne, which has been codenamed Project Beast and was originally believed to be a sequel to Demon’s Souls. We didn’t learn much from the trailer, but From Software rarely disappoints so there was reason to get excited anyway. There was also LittleBigPlanet 3, which should be a pretty good sequel in this fun and quirky series.

Moving along, Sony revealed some standalone downloadable content for Infamous: Second Son. It’s being called Infamous First Light, and it follows the story of Fetch’s escape from the DUP. Always nice to get new content for a game without having to own said game. Sony also revealed Dead Island 2 (though it’s not exclusive), new Far Cry 4 footage and a look at recently-delayed The Order 1886.

That’s where things started to get a bit sour. Sony decided to step away from the games a bit and focus on peripherals, apps, entertainment and statistics. It was a bore to say the least, and kind of ironic considering most people from the Sony camp were quick to chastise Microsoft for the same antics in previous E3 keynotes.

uncharted

But on the heels of some great indie showings like No Man’s Sky Sony ended quite strongly with an exclusive reveal of gameplay for multi-platform titles Batman: Arkham Knight and Mortal Kombat X, the next-gen version of Grand Theft Auto 5, and our very first taste of Nathan Drake in Uncharted 4.

Sony had a pretty strong showing, and if not for the mid-section they might have been billed as the hands-down king of E3 2014. But, of course, their high wouldn’t last long as Nintendo would look to step in and spoil the fun.

Nintendo

Nintendo’s shindig went down this morning, and in typical Nintendo fashion they decided to forego the big crowds and flashy lights for a quick, pointed digital press affair. It started off with some fun between Reggie Fils-Aime and Satoru Iwata, a segment that was used to lead into the revelation that Mii characters would be featured in the Wii U’s upcoming Super Smash Brothers game. Nintendo also revealed Amiibos, which are figurines that can be used to beam characters into your games (not unlike what you’ve seen with Disney Infinity and Skylanders).

The presentation rolled into the announcement of Captain Toad’s Treasure Tracker, which is a new game based on some of the Captain Toad levels in Super Mario 3D World. We also get another look at Bayonetta 2, and learned that Nintendo and PlatinumGames would be packaging the original game in case folks missed out on it. Mario Maker was exciting, too, with its course-crafting gameplay giving you the ability to make the Mario game you’ve always wanted.

All of that led up to Nintendo’s biggest reveal of the day — a new Zelda game, and boy does it look great. Thanks to the Wii U’s power, Nintendo has finally been able to make a Zelda game that is open world. Some folks have gone as far as saying that this is Zyrim — you know, Zelda and Skyrim fused together. We won’t quite draw the same conclusion, but we know this franchise is in good hands and it’ll be highly exciting to see Nintendo’s ambitions become more than just ambitions.

zelda-screenshot-11-640x359

Nintendo capped things off with a look at Splatoon, a new IP that features some interesting shooter gameplay that many are calling the freshest and more unique shooter concept in a long time. It certainly caught our attention without much issue, and we’ll be eagerly awaiting its arrival in 2015.

Nintendo left a couple of nuggets out of their main presentation to give a couple of news outlets some exclusive reveals, including Xenoblade Chronicles X, and a look at a new exclusive title Devil’s Third. And all of this was packed into just 45 minutes of goodness (with Reggie saying there’s more to look out for over the course of the next few days).

So who wins?

It’s time for the moment of truth — who gets your vote? Who “won,” in a sense? And if you’re finding it hard to decide from that angle, then who “lost?”All three companies had a lot riding on this E3, and it was one of the first times none of them clearly dropped the ball.

It was all very compelling for sure, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see these votes go neck and neck. The poll awaits you below so be sure to check it out and let us know why you chose what you chose in the comments below. Stay tuned for forthcoming E3 2014 coverage by Xbox One Daily in the moments to come!

Asking who won E3 on a Nintendo website xP

    • Poopsy

NintendoFan, are you asking which Nintendo news website won E3??? Clearly WiiUDaliy! Best breaking news / rumors / analysis / coverage ever! Thank you for your hard work to everyone on this site.

      • Guest

I think Nintendo’s own live stream events taking place at e3.nintendo.com covered Nintendo’s news the best.

        • Poopsy

WiiUDaily links to the live streams, + has the latest and greatest, all first and exclusive, BAM! Therefore it has more and better. I’m disappointed in your disloyalty a little, and it’s a little disrespectful to say what you did on WiiUDaily’s own site.

    • Daniel Gonzalez

Exactly. On a website made up of Nintendo fans as the majority, who do you think they will vote for on the poll? Kinda a shame that E3 has become a popularity contest now thanks to the crazy fanboys and media involved. :P

      • CEObrainz

        I voted Microsoft….

        • Daniel Gonzalez

There’s a reason why I said majority. I suppose you’re the exception. While I didn’t care for Microsoft’s conference…they did show some good games. Sunset Overdrive certainly got my attention.

          • andrewjcole

Yeah, but no new IPs. And people always point fingers at Nintendo…

          • CEObrainz

The stuff Microsoft showed made me want an Xbone, especially since they showed so much gameplay. I think their conference hit most of the right points as well. They even sold CoD to be something more than a standard FPS game (Even if it looks like Titanfall 2.0 without Mechs).

        • jjbredesen

I am surprised that you voted Microsoft, as i thought Zelda U was all you needed xD, but i respect your opinion, not sure who i think won E3, but i am leaning towards Nintendo simply because of how fun it was to watch there presentation, and how funny it was etc.

Having said that Microsoft and Sony did show of some really good looking stuff, so not really sure, but i hate that this is some sort of competition, and don’t really want to encourage it.

E3 is about the games, and enjoying reveals etc. with fellow gamers, not having huge arguments about which major corporation had the best event etc.

All in all a great E3 for everyone, and it looks like it will be a great year for gaming!

          • CEObrainz

I’ve pretty much explained my reasoning in other posts, but I wanted to see more gameplay. But perhaps there is still stuff to show…

        • Magnus Eriksson

          I voted Nintendo…. no really.

          • CEObrainz

            Nooooo! How could you?

          • Magnus Eriksson

Lol, being a negative and pessimistic fucker like me has its advantages. I was waiting for yet another failure and got served something else for a change, and way more than expected. But still there is some promises that Aonuma havent fulfilled yet. He hinted about Majoras Mask after launch of ALbW and said we would know more at E3. But oapart from that lie Nintendo have served a good soup :)

          • Arthur Jarret

E3 isn’t over yet… there is still a mystery 3DS game to be revealed.

          • ScrewAttack

I voted Sony. They really sealed the deal on my buying a console in a month-ish. Lots of goodies to look forward to. But, that spiel I put above about gamers too.

I wonder if anything will come of the MM stuff you mentioned below…..that’d be nice.

          • http://ejercitogeek.net/ Mercurio2054

            not really?
            no, really?
            or no really?

        • Yousif Alromaithi

Hahahahahahahaha.ni up voted because you remind someone I know.

      • JB

I was going to vote for myself, but sadly that wasn’t an option…

        • Daniel Gonzalez

Haha. Well that is the point of a poll. Based on opinions. My opinion alone, you’re awesome. :)

          • Yoshifan3

i voted sony. everyone in another article has bashed me to no end, insulted me, even threatened to kill me lol. i guess this site really is crazy.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

They actually threatened to kill you? Lol. Damn, fans are crazier than I thought. I expect to be bashed when my opinion is neutral and doesn’t favor any party. I think all three did well in their own right. In the end, the gamers win. Fans and media asking who won E3 is just trying to add more fuel to the crazy fanboy war. Crazy people like that are easy money. It’s a shame.

          • JB

BUT DAMNIT IT WORKS! We see the headline. And as neutral as people like you I and some others are, we click anyways. We comment. We engage. LOL

          • Daniel Gonzalez

True that. We do indeed. At the very least, we don’t go ape shit like some of the crazies here. All you can do is set a good example and continue on the middle-ground path. :P

          • Yoshifan3

i like both my consoles i have. its a shame when people on here wont buy another console just to get the full experience. i mean i understand having bills sucks and some people dont have a job, but save up constantly never spend your money. it took me months of saving for my ps4 and all my birthday money to save up for a wii u.

          • Yoshifan3

yes that shane michaels kid. he asked me if i wanted to die. then i said im pretty sure i wont be the one dying, as i do know how to defend myself with a Martial Arts Weapon. he then tried to posts gifs of how he would tear me apart. and i said it isnt about muscle its about wit and using the brain and agility.

he then made posted a video of him comparing me to batman and himelf to superman. of course i proved him wrong and gave him a little comics lesson. at this point in time hes still going at me.

im choosing to ignore him, but its pretty amazing how much of a keyboard warrior he is.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Most of his posts are made up of gifs. If anything, that’s all he has going for him. If all a person has is gifs to defend themselves, then they are unarmed and aren’t worth a discussion. ;p

          • Yoshifan3

well his super man batman video was freaking lego batman vs. lego superman, and the video is freaking lame, if that was a true fight, batman wouldve brought kryptonite, and beat the shit out of superman. batman actually has kryptonite and has it incase superman goes crazy and tries to kill him. so he ended up proving my point that i would beat him in a fight lol.

          • JB

You’re too kind. You’re pretty awesome yourself! Though there should seriously be an option “gamers” As a cross platform guy, I got a few things to look forward to from each console. Granted, there happens to be more I want from the Nintendo front this year. Regardless, my gaming budget is going to be dry from here well into 2015. Ha.

          • Yoshifan3

agreed. i got so many games to look foward to this year and next year, its gonna be kick ass. i always though you and daniel were pretty cool people as well :)

          • JB

Exactly. Hell, I still have a massive backlog I got to finish… So many games, so little time. Being an adult sucks sometimes. HAHA

          • Yoshifan3

theres one game im looking foward to in a week, and thats gonna eat up all my time. im a huge sports game fan, especially if its MMA. im getting EA Sports UFC on my PS4. its amazing when EA actually takes their time on a game, magic can happen. this is one of those times.

          • JB

Yea, that looks pretty good. I may have to check it out… I haven’t played a UFC game since the PS2 days.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

It sucks, but we can at least buy our own games and consoles without our parent’s consent. :D

          • JB

Very true! And we don’t have to ask if we can have the TV to play. Or finish our homework. Also we can stay up as late as our old bodies will let us. haha

          • Daniel Gonzalez

LOL. I’m a genuine night owl. I can barely get out of bed in the morning. I broke my last alarm clock for even daring to wake me. :)

          • Yoshifan3

i wish i could be, but i have to get up at 4 in the morning for work, on the days i have off though, im a night owl.

          • Arthur Jarret

Wait, wait, wait! A discussion about awesomeness? Why didn’t you guys wait for me?

    • Hugh Quinn

…I check the Xbone and PS4 Daily poll on who won E3…The winner of all 3 polls were Nintendo

      • Ocio Aguilera

        check! and it`s true :D

        • Daniel Gonzalez

An opinion poll isn’t a fact. Truth is, no one won E3. As the point of E3 is for developers and console manufacturers to show off their games, accessories, etc. Only people who make it a contest are the fanboys and crazy media. It’s rather silly just thinking about it.

          • http://ejercitogeek.net/ Mercurio2054

well @disqus_aWDc4YmJcG:disqus in this world things are like that, i think that there shuld not be a winner, but it’s in human nature this shit of war and competition, so from that point of view, it have to be a winner, and the winner is what more media talk about or the one that buys more press (some times)…. or the one that players more talk about (in a positive way)….

( i can’t express my self in english)

          • Daniel Gonzalez

I’m aware of it being human nature, but as a human, I’m certainly entitled to point it out. That’s basically what I did, and I feel no regret of doing so. I agree with what you said. Despite that, it’s still sad in my opinion to make it into a contest.

Other than that, your English to me is easy to understand, so you express it fine to me.

          • Ocio Aguilera

Hey Danny, of course im a fanboy, but a harmless one. I never insult to anybody. Being honests here, you are a sony fanboy and im ok with that. So, let me celebrate this day cause im so f&$$/&$&g happy thanks to Nintendo, Call me crazy if you want it. :) I dont care.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Being crazy doesn’t necessarily have to be insulting, it’s what you make of it. Of course, if you wanna see it as an insult, then that’s your decision. Take it how you like. If you didn’t care, then there would be no need to respond to me. Right? :P

          • Ocio Aguilera

No, i enjoy answer you, i know you are not insulting me. Just wanna say what i said, Basically, i enjoy your comments, i know you are a passionate gamer like everyone in this site,i respect that, Let me enjoy this day, a big day for Nintendo. I love some PS and Microsoft games, indeed, try to sleep tonite.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Okay, I can respect that. Don’t get me wrong, I love Nintendo just as much as the next one. I love Sony as well. I’m glad it doesn’t affect you, which is good. No reason for anyone to get mad, annoyed/irritated over it. There’s no hard feelings here, other than a disagreement. I’m not stopping you from enjoying Nintendo’s big day. Way I see it, everyone had a good day and it’s good to be a gamer. :)

          • Ocio Aguilera

Yeah! you understand me. Sony goes great, Mcrosoft goes great, Nintendo before E3 and Mario Kart 8, not so great :P

And thats my happiness here, Nintendo continues alive.

Good day to all gamers, like you said, now i leave this site or my wife gonna kill me. Hugs to you

          • Daniel Gonzalez

            *hugs* Take care. :)

        • Tecpedz94

For some reason a lot of sites are just comparing Sony vs Microsoft….

          • Hipster Victor

Probably because Nintendo didn’t do a normal conference like Sony and Microsoft does

          • MichelChartrand

Considering the majority of viewers will watch it on a screen and not live, I don’t consider the difference between Sony/MS having live media events and Nintendo’s Digital Event as being any reason to not rate them in the same context. For everyone who wasn’t watching live in person, the Sony/MS events were just as “digital” as Nintendo’s. I think Nintendo has gone down a good path skipping the live show, since it really only affects the few hundred who can attend in person anyway.
I believe the reason other sites are only comparing Sony vs. Microsoft is probably because they’re the types of sites who ignore Nintendo and don’t give them any credit, and are the types to say Wii U is not next-gen, etc.

          • Hipster Victor

True. Especially on pages like Polygon, Ign, etc. I’ve seen sites that only mentions Zelda, smash and Bayonetta and ignores the rest of Nintendo e3

      • JB

Though how many nintendo fans went on the sister sites and voted for Nintendo? In a daily basis Wii U Daily receives more traffic than the other two (well if you base things on comment count)

        • Daniel Gonzalez

Most people on the sister sites, come from Wii U Daily. Most of them anyway. So, the poll itself was pointless, but it did satisfy the crazies.

          • JB

Yea, that’s what I mean. So of course everyone’s going to go over there and vote for Nintendo and of course vice versa.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Exactly. So the poll itself makes no sense to begin with. Only reason it was done was to make the crazies happy and drive up revenue to the site. Everyone wants to cash in on E3. Lol.

          • Arthur Jarret

Hmm crazies. Reminds me of this redhead I dated.

          • Funkee Dynamite

            O RLY??

          • Daniel Gonzalez

            YARLY!

          • Rinslowe

That’s actually not true. Most people that frequent PS4 Daily or Xbox One Daily do not spend much time here on Wii U Daily.
Although there are six or so users that do all three or at least two…

        • Shuga Suenaga

you are missing something here, most nintendo players also have a play play station or xbox as a secondary console and viceversa so its normal if we go there and go back, i dont even own a WiiU as a gamer perspective hands on to nintendo

    • Mr. J

Lol that’s what I was gonna say

    • Tecpedz94

      I know wtf lol

    • Joel

      Nintendrones are scumbags.

      • Josie the Sketcher

SonySiders (Sony fans) are even worst. Those pricks are rude and
close-minded. Because they have the most powerful console, they don’t care about any other consoles at all.
I was a fan of Sony since PS1 but ever since the PS4, the community has grown rotten.

Yes! Nintendrones may be faithfully loyal to their beloved Nintendo, but at least they are open minded to Sony and Microsoft consoles. A lot of Nintendo fans on here own a PS4/PS3/Xbox 360/Xbox One

I’m a proud Nintendrone because I grew up with Nintendo, but I also love Sony and respect Microsoft. I own a PS1/2/3

I will buy a PS4 soon but that Sony community though…

        • Joel

Oh really. Nintendrones think they are so manly and smart because of their kiddy games.

It’s kinda like the mentality of a lot of hardcore game fanboys, but in reverse.

          • MichelChartrand

Not sure if I count as a “Nintendrone”, but one thing I’d say is that I don’t let “image” influence my purchasing decisions. This means I’m not ashamed to walk into a store and purchase Mario Kart 8 because the person may think I’m just into kiddy games. I wasn’t worried about buying a Wii U and I won’t stop myself from enjoying good games simply because people have a perception that Wii U is for children.
Not saying I’m manly and smart because of my kiddy games, but because I’ve no allegiance to a brand, and I’m willing to buy a Wii U game or a PS4 game or an Xbox One, if that’s what I desire.

          • Josie the Sketcher

LOL! So it’s all about how the games look then? Most Nintendo games are for all ages and but yes there are some specifically for kids. Nintendo is all about bringing family and friends together to play on one console – something Sony can’t do very well. A lot of the games may look “kiddy” but the gameplay actually can be pretty intense for example Wonderful 101, extremely intense.

Sonysiders only care about games with realistic graphics and power.

I look at my PS3 collection and all I see is mainly blood and gore games which enjoy because I’m open minded.

    • Allen

Oh is that what was up? I was like Nintendo 85%! WTF!

I am interested in getting a WiiU but no way did Nintendo win, when they didn’t even have a press conference.

I thought Zelda (Link) was going to look different. This does look good but I was expecting something a bit more like what they showed off at announcement.

Yoshi’s Wooly World (previously Yarn Yoshi) is huge on my list, wish it was more than just 2 player co-op but that’s the way Kirby’s epic yarn was too.

I’ll be picking up a WiiU so long as it’s cheaper on Black Friday.

      But IMHO PlayStation won

  • pac_man_on_these_hoes

I own a Nintendo Wii U and a Xbox One and ill be honest Nintendo left me Hanging. I expected more Zelda footage and a new Mario Game, not Mario Maker. Wii U has been in trouble and not having anythi g solid lined up for 2014 is sad. The games look cool but I doubt they will be enough to get nintendo out of this hole they are in.

    • ScrewAttack

I’m surprisingly impressed by Mario Maker. Wonder if they’ll do dlc for other palette sets (World, extended brush sets ie switches/switch blocks etc) and an online archive/challenge network where people can play and rank each other’s courses.

All I want to do is recreate SMB2 using the NSMB palette.

    • MichelChartrand

They’ve actually got quite a few games lined up for this year, and also next. I’m sure there’ll be more footage soon, but I don’t see how the amount of footage there could have left you hanging as it was a teaser. The amount of games Nintendo has been releasing and have coming up is pretty decent for them being one company. The others have good 3rd party support, but it seems Nintendo is stuck trying to keep the system afloat all on their own while studios watch saying “If they can sell more units, we’ll make games for it.” The amount of games I saw announced yesterday is pretty big. And the variety of game types was also large, it seems there are games for shooter fans, RPG fans, scroller fans and puzzlers, etc. Plenty of violence for those who like it and plenty of non-violence for others.
Now if only some 3rd parties could hype their Wii U releases too. Haven’t heard one peep from Ubisoft about Watch Dogs Wii U.

  • Bob Charlie

The “Gamers” option is missing from the poll.

    • LuLz

It asked, “which console manufacturer won?” , not, “who once overall?”

      • Bob Charlie

        Who once?

        • LuLz

          *won. I use Swype.

          • Bob Charlie

;), my phone’s Swype sucks, but it’s all I can use!

  • disqus_QNIAqtNpHo

OMG LBP3 PLEASE BE FOR PS3! OPEN WORLD ZELDA AWESOME!

    • Sdudyoy

      I’m sorry but I’m nearly 100% sure that LBP3 is PS4 exclusive.

    • Josie the Sketcher

You’ll be happy to know that LBP 3 will be released for ps3 as well

  • [000]

Now we just need a poll for which press conference was the worst….

  • CEObrainz

I liked the Zelda game up until they showed what looks like Link’s design. I’m going to buy the game when it releases anyway, but I do hope they update how he looks….it’s just irritating in my opinion….

I thought Microsoft’s conference was the best one for me, the whole Halo deals sounds awesome. However if you include all the extra stuff Nintendo is doing afterwards…they win hands down….all the gameplay I wanted to see in the main event is here……apart from Zelda U of course…. ¬_¬

    • Capt. Smoker

looks sort of like he’s stuck halfway between twilight princess and wind waker

      • CEObrainz

I don’t mind the art-style but it’s the model that annoys me. The Link from Hyrule Warriors would look better in this style.

        • Capt. Smoker

Looks sort of like preteen link, rather have had kid Link or at least 18 year old Link lol

          • CEObrainz

Same, but I’d rather see adult Link again. The world does look amazing though….

          • Capt. Smoker

Yeah I wouldn’t miss out on this, looks sort of like Wind Waker on land only bigger and more beautiful, certainly like the look of it more than I did Skyward sword

          • CEObrainz

Yep, hopefully there is a world of secrets to explore too.

    • Ducked

I agree, I want Link to look like Link, not a girl.

  • rp17
  • Capt. Smoker
    • jjbredesen

Wut? how could you dislike this:

      • Capt. Smoker

I never said I disliked it, I love it :) everything about it, completely obliterated me cause I just wasn’t ready for something so amazing, couldn’t of ever have imagined Zelda was gonna look that amazing!

        • jjbredesen

Ah ok, i thougt that your body was not ready for such a disappointment or something xD, got to agree with you, it is perhaps the best looking game i have ever seen, and my fav artstyle yet!

          • Capt. Smoker

I was afraid it was gonna look like the tech demo, which looks great sure, but the whole cross of twilight princess/wind waker like skyward sword is the BEST surprise I could have hoped for, it’s so incredibly charming :`) Nintendo and them beautiful games

          • jjbredesen

Yup, it just gets better and better!

Actually i think it is a cross between Skyward sword and ALBW with cel shading and with higher resolution textures+ a bit new stuff.

I just looked at the video on youtube and when viewing it it the video was very laggy because it YT only does 30FPS videos, but IGN does 60, so when viewing it on there it looked a lot better, meaning it surprisingly could be running at 60FPS!!

I know what you are thinking, and i am thinking the same thing, how the f@uck can a game that fantastic run at 60FPS?? I swear the game looks way better when the video runs in a 60FPS video player, and looks a lot worse in a 30FPS one, so that means that the video atleast ran at 60!

As for the resolution i think it has got to be 720P, but the game still looks fantastic, must be the best looking game i have ever in the history of all games i have seen, seen!

      • JB

So gorgeous, I had to make it my wallpaper!

        • Officer Raichu

          well thats dedication

        • bistricky

Oh man, why didn’t I think of that first …. cool wallpaper ….. I only viewed the Nintendo E3 presentation in it’s entirety … so I didn’t vote …. but I was actually pleased with the variety of games and new ideas. Was floored when I found out that Devil’s Third is a Wii U exclusive …. That’s going to be a hard-M rated game. Cheers :D

          • JB

I was pretty shocked about Devil’s Third myself. I mean it’s not often Ninty goes swimming into M-Rated waters. The game as it is doesn’t knock me off my feet graphically speaking, but hey it brought a little more variety to the platform. I can appreciate that.

        • jjbredesen

*Nerdgasm* that looks fantastic, would also recommend that you use the hyrule field one as your desktop background (PC)

          • JB

Oh that’s already done! I also have it as my wallpaper on my 10″ tabs. :-)

          • jjbredesen

Awesome i have done the exact same thing! (to lazy to post screenshot)

Still can’t get over how dam fine the game looks!

      • Rinslowe

This would hold it’s own as a Pixar film…
There’s nothing bad about this at all.

        • jjbredesen

Absolutely the best looking game i have ever seen, and that is not my inner Zelda fanboyness speaking, but my actual opinion.

It is THE best artstyle Zelda has ever had, and technically how they have been able to create such fantastic shading is crazy!

Its like a HD Cel shaded Skyward Sword with a dash of Twilight Princess, and even a bit of OOT/MM in there, it is a perfect combination, and then just look at the render distance!

Could not have asked for anything better, and yes it is that fantastic that it could be a Pixar film!

  • rp17

    I found more box art…

    • bistricky

Gotta love great box art. Cheers :D

    • MetroidZero

      Hyrule Warriors’ box art o.o

    • Lil J Moore

      Hyrule Warriors look amazing

  • Vegeta937

The only thing that disappointed me about Nintendo’s presentation was the lack of Zelda U gameplay. Otherwise, everything they covered (and more) is being expanded upon in the Treehouse Live they’re doing right now. Tons of Xenoblade, Hyrule Warriors, and Splatoon gameplay, along with new IPs introduced by Miyamoto. There’s a lot to be had…plus the Smash Bros. Invitational in an hour…

    • CEObrainz

Without the tree-house stuff I would have been disappointed. But the rest of the stream makes up for the underwhelming presentation.

      • Vegeta937

I see where you’re comig from for sure…those Robot Chicken bits were hilarious imo. Seth Green as Mario – too funny.

        • Gabe Hoffman

Yeah the Robot Chicken segments were priceless

        • CEObrainz

True, watching it again it’s actually quite good. But when you’re expecting to see the type of gameplay that Microsoft did, then you’d be a bit disappointed too.

          • Vegeta937

Wasn’t Microsoft’s presentation a lot longer as well? Like an hour and a half if I’m not mistaken. So they had time to show all the gameplay they wanted to. Nintendo just chose to further theirs with the Treehouse thing, which I’ve been watching with (almost) rapt attention. Plus, the week isn’t over. And, for the record, I’m far from bashing Microsoft; their presentation made me want an XBone.

  • http://www.mpt-online.eu/ Sylux

I can’t really make a decision here as I haven’t seen all conferences yet, but from what I read in the small line up in the article about the 3 I think Micosoft wins with the focus on games, Nintendo wins in what they have shown thusfar, and seems like Sony pulls the shortest string in day one, let’s see what day 2 and 3 bring. I vote blank for now, I can’t cast a fanboyish or unfair vote if I haven’t seen all three conferences yet.

  • Enumerating Wishes

I’m surprised Sony got more votes than Microsoft. I thought Sony was the worst of the 3 IMO. For E3 I go for Microsoft but since Nintendo has more up their sleeves I’m definitely looking forward to seeing it.

  • TrueWiiMaster

This poll is too early. Nintendo is going to keep things going throughout the week, including new announcements and the SSB tournament, while Sony and Microsoft are pretty much done (as far as I know).

Personally, I’d give it to Nintendo already, though, because they had the most/best exclusives, the most games I want, and the most entertaining show. I mean seriously, SSB, Zelda, X, and Pokemon were all together in one show, not to mention all the other awesome-looking games they announced/showed (including Star Fox), and they still aren’t done.

  • Gabe Hoffman

I think Nintendo had an overall solid presentation. Zelda U looks amazing and we got quite a few nice surprises

  • Ducked

Like people are really going to vote for Sony or Microsoft on Wii U Daily, silly poll.

I’d say Sony and Nintendo tied, with Xbox trailing only by a little. All the delays were disappointing, and I would have liked to see Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy XV. LittleBigPlanet 3 really carried the PS4 to the top. Zelda was rather disappointing as a teaser. I was expecting a little more of a trailer instead of getting chased by a spider for three seconds. Xbox’s exclusives looked rather desperate. Another 2D Yoshi and Kirby makes me question Nintendo’s lack of showing the Wii U’s power in 3D.

    • oontz

“Like people are really going to vote for Sony or Microsoft on Wii U Daily, silly poll.”

      This

  • anhell

Lol sorry but for me sony was the winner nintendo event was terrible and short I really expected more for them. On the other hand sony did a great job and because of that I will buy a ps4 before 2015 so I can get ready for all those awesome games are coming.

    • ScrewAttack

      Destiny- September 2014. Do it.

  • ENDOT123

the only reason i thougt nintendo won, is not because im a fanboy, i loved all the showing from all 3. But it was soley on the zelda announcement. that is easily my most anticipated game from e3.

  • aaron

They all were close but I give the edge to nintendo they finally giving what the fans want and it’s games, games, and more games. New ip I’ve found interesting with the toad game and splatoon and they brought back Kirby and star fox. The reason why i think they won is because of zelda u. Zelda U looks outright stunning and that was the final blow. I didn’t even mention bayonetta 1 and 2 on one disc. People complaining about having bayonetta 2 on the wii u but not the first one , well nintendo finally listen to the fans. Well this have been the best e3 for nintendo in a while.

  • Vegeta937

They’re showcasing the Mario Maker on the Treehouse Live right now…holy crap. ENDLESS hours of fun.

    • CEObrainz

Can’t wait to see someone make Kaizo Mario on there….

      • Vegeta937

For sure! I can just see me sitting around with a group of friends like they’re doing, just passing off the controller while taunting “Beat that shit, bitch!”

        • CEObrainz

Yep, especially as you can can calculate the distance to make certain jumps.

  • MetroidZero

    The players.

    Ahem, Nintendo.

  • wober2

If somehow no man’s sky, blood borne, scalebound, inside, and destiny were on wiiu I would be the happiest bell at the ball…

  • ScrewAttack

We won. Gamers. Xbots usually have a massive hardon for Halo, so they did great this week. Sony came out with some awesome titles when they weren’t blathering on about the failed Vita and TV stuff, and I’m totally waiting on the white PS4-Destiny bundle before I pick one up cos that looks sweet. They even sold me on The Order 1886 whereas before I had no interest. Bloodborn looks boring as heck though, and I’m shocked by the lack of “Evil Within” we saw (MGSV of course looking good). Nintendo came out with some awesome stuff, Star Fox, Zelda looks good (still a bit sad it’s not TP-styled though for their first HD outing- maybe next time- but at least the SS style is my second favourite), that crazy robo-camera thing Miyamato showed looks fun, Yarn Yoshi, Xenoblade, Miis in Smash…..though once again I feel like something was missing from Ninty’s lot. Feels like there needs to be one more big reveal. Or a proper Zelda trailer. That would’ve done it too. No Man’s Sky and Destiny were probably my highlights, but that’s probably true for most people.

Anyway. Moral of the story is we all win, cos loads of cool shit yo.

  • james craig

on the xbox daily its a tie between nintendo and sony

    • majora :D

      lol… just lol

  • Daniel Carvalho

Nintendo is the only one that gets me excited nowadays. If in the past I was eager to have both Gamecube and PS2, now the only console I have a space for in my heart (as well as my wallet and my shelf) is the Wii U.

And let’s be fair, Nintendo won the E3 the moment Iwata started kicking Reggie’s ass in that amazing Smash Bros. commercial! I’m tired of seeing games with realistic graphics, as that makes each and every title that uses such choice seem generic, due to its over-usage. I loved seeing titles like Splatoon, Guard Force and Yoshi’s Wool for the creativity involved in each concept, where the developers are not afraid to do something different – and that’s exactly what I seek in games, something that goes in the opposite direction of reality!

Not to mention Sony and Microsoft presentations of their games was kinda dull. I didn’t think it was anything horrible, but I never get carried by their hype. I tried watching their conferences to the end, but I just get bored halfway through. Last year’s Nintendo Direct E3 was kinda disappointing, specially because it was just another ND when it should be a press conference, but this year’s online event was amazing! It’s been a while since any of the three managed to get me this excited, and the one who did it this year was Nintendo!

    • Capt. Smoker

Aye, ,my love for ps died with the ps2, absolutely loved that console, I had GC for fun times and my ps2 for serious jrpg business, the ps3 in comparison was just one big flop, with only the odd game I cared for like ni no kuni and eternal sonata, I felt excited for almost every Nintendo game, the Wii was a fun console, the Wii U was just a dream come true, considering I hate most mature 3rd party stuff, all this Nintendo goodness in HD was overwhelming, the Sony and MS conferences were lack luster to me, too many similar games and aside fro m little big planet, all dark and edgey, I still love ps and I thought the Vita tv announcement for US and UK is nice, I imported one and loved it, although nowhere near as much as my psp, there’s only one complaint I have with Nintendo, and it’s probably a me thing, and that’s the handheld, most games I played on ds were underwhelming, and short of the devil survivor, kirby and dragon quest games, I found it hard to get into anything, kinda feel that way about the 3ds too, I really hope they up the quality with the next one, at least enough for maybe a xenoblade portable ;) and I agree with you, amazing online event, Nintendo pwned everything hands down.

      • steveb944

Oh man thanks for letting me know about Vita TV, I was waiting for that. Oh and I also gave up on Sony after the PS2. I’ll have to decide on a console to get for KH3 but that’s not for a while.

        • Capt. Smoker

Vita tv is a real joy buddy, the Vita in general is a nice handheld :) just a shame, like the Wii U, the devs these days just don’t wanna put in an effort for it, if your a jrpg gamer like me, I’d maybe recommend the xbox one if the early days are anything like the 360, they had a few good ones early on, but I think Sony with ps now launching soon, probably….. the better choice, I mean, you’d never get bored witn a backlog of over 1000 ps3, psp, ps2, ps1 games :)

      • CapnCrumbles436

I completely agree, but its going to hurt getting left out of the new Batman game…:(

        • Capt. Smoker

I know, it looks amazing, that’s really the only downside, ya miss out on one or two golden games, but you trade it off for the Nintendo catalogue, your always gonna miss games, unless you have all consoles, even when you have all consoles, only so much money to go around I’m afraid, I’ve used my 2ds very little mostly because the Wii U has had some good games and the Vita had a few early in the year, thankfully though, we still have Marvel who seem pretty content to support the system :)

      • Daniel Carvalho

The only complain I have with Nintendo right now is their habit to make things easier for those who find games too hard. Putting that Sheikah Stone in SKyward Sword and Ocarina of Time 3DS, or some movies in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, or even that Golden Super Leaf from 3D Land that grabs players by their hand and take them to the next stage is something I utterly hate!

I understand it would all come down to the “it’s your choice to use it or not”, but the fact cleaning the game isn’t a matter of skill and hard work – alongside the feeling of empowering surpassing those challenges give you – for less skilled players, and it really frustrates me as someone who tries to bypass the entirety of many playthroughs without the aid of any walkthrough. And in the end, those “new” players that didn’t get their hands on more hardcore titles will not get their hands on any other game that doesn’t have a helping feature, because they grew accustomed to having someone give them all the answers instead of having someone teach them how to think for themselves.

But yeah. Sony does a lot of things to please their fanbase, and that’s great. It’s only a shame 90% of those things are features I don’t care for or don’t even want. In the end, if I were to get their consoles, I would pay a huge price for a product I’m going to use only 10% of. The same with Microsoft and their All-in-One overpriced VHS. And that attitude reflects on their exclusive titles, that are just a bunch of stuff that worked before and fans are familiar with: realistic graphics, dialogues that should have been censored, blood and online for everything. Those kind of things don’t attract me, and the fact that’s the selling point of their consoles only drives me away from them.

        • Capt. Smoker

Oh I KNOW that feel, I understand maybe for small kids, but have it as an option at least in the settings menu, really fucked me off when i bought Fire emblem awakening and saw the option to not kill off the characters if they die in battle, I think that’s what annoyed me about most ds and 3ds games, so much handholding, kinda took the fun outta it, like no challenge at all, even megaman games were easier on the ds…. c’mon megaman?, I remember zero on gba, I couldn’t even clear the first boss lol were as most psp games just threw ya in, realized that with agito lately, just threw me in and said byeeeeeeeeeeee goodluck, don’t die :D.

I never use walkthroughs, takes the fun outta it, I’d sooner just press A on everything until I get it right than rely on help lol and I agree with ya, too expensive for what they are, I’d much rather stick with my Vita this gen, wasn’t that expensive and has all the jrpgs and interesting little gems here and there that I need, as opossed to shooter after shooter.

  • mar laguna

it’s that nintendo did it right

  • Kyle

All three won because they are all getting richer and Im getting poorer

  • steveb944

Oh crap I really want an XBone now. Must resist temptation as I want to support Sony for my KH3 purchase.

  • Donaald

To me microsoft won because they showed they wanted to appeal to every kind of gamer, and that’s coming from a huge microsoft hater, sony showed more interactive movies and little big planet while nintendo’s treehouse format was clunky and disorganized

  • Nookling

Oh come on guys. I love Nintendo the most but they had like 4 good announcements. Sony killed Nintendo.

    • rp17

That’s an opinion. I was interested in every game Nintendo showed, except maybe Mario Maker. For Sony it was Little Big Planet 3 and 5 seconds of Uncharted 4…

      • oontz

        That is also an opinion.

        • rp17

My point was I didn’t vote for Nintendo because I’m a blind fanboy. I honestly found Sony and Microsoft’s conferences boring.

          • oontz

And that is also an opinion. Sony (in my opinion) showed a lot more that I am interested in as a gamer than Nintendo. I think the only thing Nintendo showed I’d buy day one is Zelda. Everything else was meh.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Same. Most things that they showed I expected for the most part. The rest wasn’t that interesting.

          • oontz

I don’t own a 3DS which is half the presentation, but X, Bayonetta, Smashbros don’t do it for me. Splatoon looks cool but not sure if it would actually hold my attention for long enough to justify the purchase. Basically 2015 is looking MASSIVE for me and the games I love.

        • Daniel Gonzalez

Everything that is said here is an opinion. Regardless of what we all may believe. That’s about all that can be said. Of course, if people wanna pretend that they are right in some way, no skin off my back(not directed at you).

          • oontz

            True true.

Hey Im at E3 and it rocks but how you doing man ..Did you like the Zelda footage for Wii U?

      • https://twitter.com/Zorpix_Fang Zorpix

It was really great! I want to see more gameplay though, and learn how far from linear they’re going.

        • PS4Rocks

The star fox game is looking cool

          • https://twitter.com/Zorpix_Fang Zorpix

have they shown more? I’ve been at work all day

          • PS4Rocks

          • https://twitter.com/Zorpix_Fang Zorpix

    • http://ejercitogeek.net/ Mercurio2054

Zorpix, can we have a statistic of how much wii Us connect every week on the site?
i use my computer at day (work) but lot of time i use the wii u.
      is just i’m curious.

      • https://twitter.com/Zorpix_Fang Zorpix

Eh. I wouldn’t know how to do that. I dont have access to that data

  • PS4Rocks

Nintendo hands down with Sony second and Xbox one dead last..:)

  • Rinslowe

This was predictable. Not because it’s a Nintendo site lol. Although expect that.
It’s because Nintendo really did deliver a classy E3 event. To all the so called neutral dudes out there calling out fanboy’s/ crazies and unfair bias. Take your own advice…

Give credit where it is due!

  • oontz

You may as well have a poll about who likes to breathe oxygen.

    • Daniel Gonzalez

Lol. True. The poll doesn’t make sense as it’s obvious Nintendo is going to win on a Nintendo site. What’s weirder, is that this poll was on PS4 and Xbox One Daily. Having a neutral site would better suffice to me.

      • Yen

Funny thing is, so far Nintendo is winning on all three’s polls.

        • Daniel Gonzalez

It’s not that hard when users from Wii U Daily can just jump over there and vote. This site also gets more visitors such as guests than the sister sites. So, putting those into account, do you believe that Nintendo was going to lose those polls? I do find it funny indeed. The accuracy of the polls is questionable, as most are usually.

          • Yen

By that, it’s also possible for non-fans to come and vote against Nintendo. It’s a poll, it shouldn’t have been taken seriously to begin with. I was just pointing out it’s funny that you said “it’s obvious Nintendo is going to win on a Nintendo site”. Also, considering the amount of articles and comments on this site that points out everything Nintendo does wrong, yes I do think that Nintendo can honestly lose a poll on its own fan site. If the fans are honest, then that is possible.

          • oontz

“If the fans are honest, then that is possible.”

well there in lies the rub.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

            True story.

        • oontz

Yeah the amount of nintendo fans on the “daily” sites FAR outweigh the other two platforms by a very large margin.

          • Yen

The amount of comments bashing Nintendo are surprisingly high for a site full of Nintendo fans. So clearly Nintendo fans don’t always agree with everything Nintendo does. Meaning even Nintendo fans might vote against them if they deserved it.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Yep. The sister sites have little to no traffic compared to Wii U Daily. So it’s hard to prove that the poll is unbiased.

          • oontz

I also wouldn’t put it past this sites members to actually go to the other sites and vote for Nintendo. On Ps4 daily Nintendo has like 600+ votes, I have never seen more than 20 people commenting on the articles there. Ha ha

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Haha. Yeah, I can’t call that a coincidence. Lol.

          • oontz

            nope.

      • oontz

Yeah, but it’s still all subjective. Why would I think Nintendo won when I preferred the games Sony showed… or why would Someone think Sony won when they preferred the games Nintendo showed. Pointless.

        • Daniel Gonzalez

Yeah. Said that myself. Polls like this are pointless. No one won but the gamers.

          • oontz

yeah some amazing titles coming down the pipe.

  • oontz

Sony showed a lot more content I am interested in playing, but I will buy and complete Zelda u.

    • Rinslowe

Yeah, I honestly thought the realistic palette was a tad over done.
The games that caught my eye though was Little Big Planet 3, No Mans Sky and Abzu. Coincidentally Nintendo also answered the call with Zelda, Yoshi’ (which looks stunning) and Splatoon.
Those six games will be played to death in my home.

      • oontz

No mans sky looks amazing… can’t wait to play and explore that game. Overall the only thing I am excited for from what nintendo showed is Zelda. Everything else was just okay but Zelda is a day one purchase for me.

        • Zuxs13

Really you didn’t get excited for splatoon? That game is so unique and looks beautiful. Devils third looks pretty cool and really tosses out the conventions of a shooter as well.

No mans sky does look awesome and could come to the wii u’s its an Indy game I didn’t hear anything saying they were exclusive.

          • oontz

“Really you didn’t get excited for splatoon? That game is so unique and looks beautiful.”

Splatoon looks cool, but I don’t know if it’d hold my interest for long.

“Devils third looks pretty cool and really tosses out the conventions of a shooter as well.”

Sorry this game looks horrible, like bargin bin ps3 horrible.

“No mans sky does look awesome and could come to the wii u’s its an Indy game I didn’t hear anything saying they were exclusive.”

I am pretty sure it’s at least a timed exclusive. There was no mention other than ps4 for consoles.

  • ShortyStock

Hahaha, I knew Nintendo would dominate that poll.

The moment I saw the new Zelda, realized that they nailed the look and I heard Aonuma say “open world” it was all over. Big sigh of relief! From there on it was just icing on the cake, extra cheese on the pizza.

Hyrule Warriors looks amazing. The fusion of two of my favorite franchises? Yes please. Captain Toad, Splatoon, Starfox, Smash, Devils 3rd etc etc. Good show Nintendo. Encore!

  • Brandon

I really think sony did the best out of everyone. They had the most surprise. I know its all about games, but not only did they show many games they showed other things that were also good.

    • Virus6

Sony’s pacing was terrible. Honestly, the videos looked good but nothing aside from Bloodborne was unexpected.

      • Purple

the same could be said about Nintendo… aside from Star Fox and Splatoon. nothing was unexpected.

Smash, Bayonetta, zelda, yoshi, xenoblade,etc.. these are all games we knew were coming. But they are awesome games! I wish there were more surprises.

        • FutureFox

Splatoon reminds me of Gotham Imposters for some reason.

        • Zuxs13

Captain toad, Mario maker, smash character reveals, project giant robot, project guard and devils third were all unexpected, surprises

      • Brandon

Little big planet 3 and GTA V, and some of the indies were pretty good.

  • Xavier Lopez Chabelo

AS A NINTENDO FANBOY… YEP NINTENDO WON BY FAR

Now as a fellow gamer, I think the three of them did a good job, Microsoft focused on GAMES (Thats a miracle), SONY presented a LOT… a LOT of content, and Nintendo did their thing

  • Peter YT

Microsoft had the better conference of the three. Nintendo’s event was dogshit. Zelda is ass and everything that is worth playing is delayed to 2015. Watch smash bros get delayed to 2015

  • Jon

Honestly, I would say Nintendo won this E3 by far and this is not just because I am a Nintendo fan. They have done SO much compared to the other two. They started with their digital event, then took and hour and a half break and then they NEVER stopped. They have been going strait for the last 6 hours and then they had that digital event that was like 45 minutes and the smash event is STILL going on. They didn’t even show everything in the digital event, there was some stuff not in the digital event that were showed after (yes I know they may not look awesome but still). So they have had their events going for 7 hours today (and possibly longer depending on how much longer this smash invitation lasts) and yet they still have stuff to announce AND show tomorrow. Compared to the others, I’d say Nintendo went so far and did so much more which leans me towards Nintendo for taking the E3 win. There is just so much coming from them and almost ALL of it is game play of their games and not CGI like what the other two showed a lot of.

  • Nintendofreak

    ….Wait were is sega?

  • Virus6

Microsoft’s was ok, but not really anything great. Sony was about on par with that. Nintendo really dominated

    • oontz

Sony showed 11 PS4 Exclusives, and 9 Multi-plat titles (none of which are coming to wiiu). Nintendo showed 10 Wiiu Exclusives, but 0 multi-plat titles.

  • Adrian

BTW, the Nintendo Eshop has all the trailers and more on them..plus a 30% off sale going on. Get on there and check all this out!

  • Eric

I think Nintendo did a great Job today, the Treehouse stuff was great, we got to see lots of gameplay and they talked about great things. I am looking forward to their stuff tomorrow as well.

  • cool1706

This poll is bias, whoever has a Wii u will say Nintendo won. If I were to go on ps4 daily it would say Sony won. Same for the Xbox 1 and Microsoft.

    • Jon

the poll for all 3 sites say Nintendo… though that could easily be that those are sister sites and not the main one.

      • http://macromanjr.blogspot.com/ Brian Lockett

Pretty sure many Nintendo fans simply went on the other two sites to vote, as well. Not saying that PS4 and Xbox One fans didn’t vote “Nintendo,” but I think Nintendo fans are probably tilting the polls a good deal elsewhere, too.

        • oontz

          My thoughts as well.

        • Daniel Gonzalez

Both sister sites barely have any traffic or have nowhere near many comments as Wii U Daily. It’s quite certain that most Nintendo fans here tilted those polls in Nintendo’s favor.

  • Eric

Each of the big three did fantastic jobs this year. It was the best E3 in a long time, I think.

  • gamingpalooza

  • Petri

Nintendo managed to make a PC elitist a fanboy.
Might be my newly found inner fanboy speaking, But Nintendo won.
Seeing some hope for the console gaming after all.

  • lonewolf88

hands down nintendo of course I mean sony talked about tv and a movie for like a hour wtf

    • oontz

      exaggerate much?

      • Daniel Gonzalez

        Don’t they always?

      • MetroidZero

        The new water-cooler?

        ;-)

      • lonewolf88

it felt like ever what really made it feel that long was when they showed ratchet and clank but it turns out they were showing the movie i was like really???

        • oontz

It’s kind of funny how one 5 minute segment negates their entire conference for you.

          • lonewolf88

its not just that they talk about tv tv shows and they hardly showed any gameplay of games and the games we did see we saw in other press confrences

          • oontz

“they hardly showed any gameplay of games”

Ummm, maybe you didn’t actually watch the presentation, since they showed gameplay.

          • lonewolf88

again the games we did see where games we saw in other confrences I hardly call a cgi trailer gameplay.

          • oontz

“again the games we did see where games we saw in other conferences”

For the record… Sony showed 11 PS4 Exclusives, and 9 Multi-plat titles (none of which are coming to wiiu). Sony also DID show pre-recorded gameplay for 5 of those PS4 exclusives, and cgi trailers for the rest.

Nintendo showed 10 Wiiu Exclusives, but 0 multi-plat titles. Most of which were CGI trailers, including Zelda.

          • lonewolf88

where did u get those exclusives its already been confirmed nintendo announced the most exclusives???? seems like a ass number.

          • oontz

That’s the great thing about a fact, wether or not YOU actually believe… doesn’t change that it IS true.

  • FutureFox

Nintendo had the better approach to presenting their wares. Short, sweet and funny with the Robot Chicken gag. As far as games go they held their own with Sony but Sony just has more titles coming sooner than Nintendo. C’mon does anyone really think Zelda will be out in 2015 given Nintendo’s horrible recent track record of dating their games releases? Its 2016 tops and likely late 2016.

  • blarf

Sony had a good show. But I was so impressed with the Zelda presentation it sold me on buying a WiiU before the week ends. PS4 didnt get me there yet. But Nintendo has finally gotten to that point.

Stuff like Arkham Knight and No Mans Sky looked cool. But I can just buy that on PC. Same for most of the Microsoft reveals.

  • ben

Sony had the worst presentation. What were they thinking? 30 minutes on TV.

  • Medaka Kurokami

As a Nintendo fan I have to say my vote wasn’t biased towards them. Although, I will admit to skipped out on Sony’s showing before casing my vote(I did go back and get more info on what went down) and I must that Sony should have a much higher poll rating. I mean for me just moving games over form the PS3 to the PS4 even though they’re good one(s) *cough*Last of US*cough* I feel that it was more for people more into Sony. I personally never played Uncharted and don’t like much from the look of it.. Seems like it could be fun but also seems pretty generic (feel free to enlighten me on it). I was already planning to buy the PS4 sometime when I actually had that mythical thing called “Money” but I don’t so there’s that. Microsoft came out the gates failing for me.. I want one game one the Xbox One, Quantum Break. So good luck to MS with that. But Nintendo, actually got me hyped for what’s coming to them. I’ve been waiting for Xenoblade Chronicles X and Bayonnetta 2 (and Smash ofc) for so long. And an open world Zelda game, that’s perfect for a game in the series, more adventure in an adventure series. I personally can’t see many low’s with the big N’s display this year. And side note.. Last Guardian, amazing. If you guys have anything to add please do, I welcome all criticism. And possibly some low’s for Nintendo this year maybe.. If you can see anything I didn’t.

    • Zuxs13

Uncharted plays very generic, but its the story line that makes the games so appealing. Its like acting out your favorite Indiana Jones movies with your controller. The characters are so well acted and have such good personalities you can’t wait to find out what happened next.

Though I find there is too much shooting in the game and it doesn’t fit the characters personalities, I still couldn’t put down the controller because you want to experience how it ends.

  • http://macromanjr.blogspot.com/ Brian Lockett

Nobody did outstandingly, in my opinion. Nintendo’s presentation could’ve been stronger, just as much as Sony’s and Microsoft’s own presentations.

I think Nintendo showed more stuff I cared about, but not a whole lot on them. A brief glimpse at Star Fox and a tease at the new Zelda were pretty much the only noteworthy thing with Nintendo for me.

Most everything else was smaller first-party projects, all coming in 2015. In fact, everything seems to be coming in 2015, which is making Wii U’s entries of games so late, that I wonder if it will even matter that these games come out in 2015.

For whatever reason, Nintendo thinks that most of us really care about a bunch of NFC figurines and seeing Miis in Super Smash Bros. That was such a yawn. I was hoping to see new faces coming in Super Smash Bros. or perhaps some new promising features. I do like the news of the SSB GameCube controller accessories, but it’s not front page news. I would’ve loved to see something about how online gaming (if any at all) will work in SSB for Wii U and for 3DS. I couldn’t care less about the cheap inclusion of Miis in the game.

Yoshi Yarn looked decent, but again, we already knew about it. It looks great visually, and it looks like decent fun, but it simply wasn’t a surprise. We knew about it for two years now. We wanted news–the key word in “news” is “new.” Besides a few new glimpses at the game in action, it simply didn’t add “wow” factor. It didn’t give this E3 some “umph.”

The new Kirby game reminded me of Canvas Curse, except only about three times slower and needlessly spread across the GamePad Controller and the TV. It would’ve worked much better as a Nintendo 3DS game–not some title for Wii U.

We saw two new Pokémon games, but oy, if I don’t see another Pokémon game, it’ll be too soon. I love Pokémon, though, not as much as I did when it came out in America about 16 years ago. It’s being played on way too much. If we’re not going to see a major breakthrough, like a Pokémon MMO for Wii U (or heck, even the 3DS), then honestly, seeing yet-another iteration isn’t going to bring “Pow!” to Nintendo’s showing. We could’ve guessed another Pokémon entry was coming.

Monolith Soft’s game “X” didn’t really appeal much to me. A lot of pre-rendered cinematics, but nothing I haven’t seen before–nothing noteworthy so far. A bunch of animé-style quirkiness and absolutely no gameplay footage. I didn’t wait two years for a mere trailer. I’m glad Monolith Soft’s supporting the Wii U, but this still wasn’t strong enough to consider Nintendo’s showing as “strong.”

Bayonetta 2 was the strongest third-party game shown, but we’ve already known about it. You can’t give the win to Nintendo for a game we already knew plenty about. Some Nintendo-themed content revealed for the game, but beyond that, nothing new. Nothing E3-winning worthy.

I think Nintendo fans, particularly the younger “under 25″ crowd, get excited way too easy. They’re far too easily pleased, and too readily impressed. If you have some history with Nintendo, you know Nintendo’s capable of stronger hands.

We know Nintendo would make the Wii U a stellar console experience, if only they’d amp up their effort more. Don’t hold anything back. Ante up all in. There used to be an era when Nintendo would blow us away, year after year, time and time again. They were the envy of the entire industry, and even the competition admired them.

But in recent years, it’s like they’ve lost most of the fight in them. They keep going with the easy route, for the most part. They’re simply not growing and adapting much anymore. This E3 was no exception to me, personally. It wasn’t nearly as bad as last year, but it wasn’t Nintendo’s best stuff, either.

    – Mac Attack

    • http://macromanjr.blogspot.com/ Brian Lockett

Shit, that was longer than I had intended. But it’s pretty much everything I thought.

    • Zuxs13

Wow did you miss all the other Nintendo news yesterday as well? They showed several new characters for smash bros along with many new features too.

If you were “disappointed ” by Zelda you should check out this video as you probably overlooked a lot of how great this game looks.
      http://m.ign.com/videos/2014/06/10/the-legend-of-zelda-wii-u-rewind-theater-e3-2014

Everyone clamoured for new IPs new IPs they showed 5! Everyone said they needed Zelda and star fox and metroid, they showed two out of three so far. Everyone said they need third party support, they landed devils third as an exclusive.

I don’t know how they could have “amped” it up any more. They had robot chicken create skits for their show, they had special effects and fights in their show, they showed off tons of games many were new and gave release dates and windows for many of them. Though many were 2015 there was ststill at least one big title every month from august on till 2015. That’s more than the other two combined for exclusives.

      • http://macromanjr.blogspot.com/ Brian Lockett

I totally forgot about Palutena being added. Though, Pac-Man isn’t the greatest addition to the roster, and Miis mean little to me as an addition.

I just checked out the Review from IGN on the Zelda trailer, and I do feel better about it. They pointed out a lot of details, which lets me know a lot of detail went into the game. That in-depth post-show review really changed my mind, more than the mere trailer alone did at first glance.

I was quite disappointed at first, mainly because I was expecting a bit more in terms of visual style, and also since we waited three years, and I’ve got to wait another year to see the game.

I personally wish we saw a different direction in terms of visuals. They could’ve kept the painterly style but I wish they didn’t use cel-shading again. I’m not against cel-shading necessarily, but this is the third Zelda game to use the color “Jell-O”-ish style, after Wind Waker/Wind Waker HD and Skyward Sword. I just would’ve preferred they left that rendering method alone for a while.

As for new IPs, Captain Toad and Splatoon aren’t exactly what one would hope for with wanting “new IPs.” I actually found Captain Toad as interesting–but just not enough of a “new IP” that satiates me wanting to see new series, one preferably away from the existing classic franchises. I also get the feeling that game’s going to be rather small.

What I would hope for in a new IP is something like Nintendo taking a whack at an MMORPG, or creating a new adventure hero, or innovating a new style of game altogether. Splatoon looks okay, but it’s particularly nothing noteworthy to me. It’s a $20 e-Shop game at best, to me.

You then say that everyone said they need third party support, and then you list one new third-party game, Devil’s Third, as an exclusive. Not exactly proving your point there. This only proves others’ point that third-party support is weak.

Even then, this game Devil’s Third didn’t particular impress, at least, me. Had this game been on PS4, everyone here would be talking about how lame it looks–because it does look like a lame game. The main character isn’t particularly appealing, and it tries way too hard to be “gritty action but doesn’t pull it off particularly well. But since it’s with Nintendo, it’s welcomed with open arms–only because Wii U fans have become desperate.

You say that you don’t know how they could’ve “amped” it up any more, and then you start listing a bunch of glitz and glam about the presentation, which I wasn’t talking about. I wasn’t talking about the mere presentation, but the effort on the front in terms of game development.

You want to know what they could do better?

        • Buy new second-party companies.
        • Ensure that one of best second-party companies in the industry, Retro Studios, works on a truly stellar new title, and announce it.
        • Sponsor promising AAA indie dev teams to create solid, unique games that finish development sooner than AAA major titles do, to tie us over until 2015.
        • Announce new IPs that introduce new heroes, in styles of games that Nintendo’s never touched before, such as a new MMORPG. Make the new characters cool, perhaps even worthy of introducing into Super Smash Bros. as a latecomer.
        • Show a game that proves that Wii U’s online gaming isn’t a joke. So far, we haven’t seen any such game yet.
        • Partner with more third-party developers and buy new exclusive games for Wii U. Show some presence about taking third-party support much more seriously than just merely three main third-party games announced.

I’m not asking for absolutely everything perfect from Nintendo, but I do think they could be playing their hand a lot better than they have. Their presentation has some bright spots, but overall, I find they were no “better” than Sony or Microsoft this year. They all were pretty weak this year.

      • oontz

“they landed devils third as an exclusive.”

That game looks like garbage… there is a reason it was never released 4 years ago and picked up by nintendo.

I suppose Wii U Daily is the biggest of the 3 sites?

    • Petri

I suppose Wii U was like its own thing, and I guess many who skipped the Wii either bought the Wii U or is at least following its progress.
PS and xbox are like continuations and gamers on those systems already has sources that continued from the previous gen
Wii U Daily can be slow, but it is still the best site for Wii U related stuff.
Though they could start updating other sections of the site as well,
games sections been the same since 2012.
If nothing else, maybe let established members of community to add and edit things on some sections that they do not have the time for.

  • Akatosh

Nintendo had my one requirement: Zelda. Don’t care about any FPS’. And no one else had any RPGs.

    • http://macromanjr.blogspot.com/ Brian Lockett

That might be your only concern, but it’s not a practical one, if you want Wii U to live. A console needs more than one game to survive well, and it needs a great variety of games. In that respect, nobody at E3 this year did well, I would say.

    • TalesOfBS

Too bad they didn’t show SMTxFE. Really wanted to see that game there.

    • oontz

There are a bunch of upcoming RPG games being shown at E3… what are you talking about?

  • pbd2

Xbox one showed the best games and Nintendo showed some good stuff too. Sony was very disappointing.Sunset overdrive and Halo Collection stole the show but the Wii paintball game looked great.

    • oontz

Sony showed 11 PS4 Exclusives, and 9 Multi-plat titles with timed exclusive content. Not sure what was so disappointing about that?

  • Cian Mcgrath

Am I the only one who feels sorry for the 3ds fans who were sort of pushed to the side to make wua for the Wii U? Then again, the Wii U needs to be sold and the 3ds has been given a lot more titles, but still, a game based on one of the Mario series side characters wouldn’t have gone amiss.

    • http://www.instagram.com/flip1982 Flip

Don’t Nintendo do a seperate digital event about the 3ds… I might be making this up but I’m sure they have done this in the past ;)

      • Cian Mcgrath

As far as I’m aware I don’t think that will be happening this year but I have just heard that 90 minutes will be spent on a new unannounced 3ds games.. its hinted that it will be Major as Mask HD.

      • Cian Mcgrath

I didn’t think they were but there I a new upcoming unannounced game on the 3ds later today I think. It has been hinted that it will be Major as Mask HD.

  • james

Between Xbox One and Wii U i will have all the gaming greatness I need, so many cool games coming between the two.

    • oontz

but greatness awaits only on ps4…

  • TheBrainJemin

Nintendo had fricking JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and Robot Chicken references.
Clearly they won E3 this year.
    WRRRRRYYYYY!!!!!

    • Petri

      Not references.
Read somewhere those bits were actually made by Stoopid Monkey (Robot Chicken).
Could be wrong though, but internet never lies.

      • uPadWatcher

Robot Chicken produced by Stoopid Monkey, SONY Television, and Williams Street.

        • Petri

But I think the brains are working under Stoopid Monkey?

  • InterTreble

    Nintendo, by all means

  • swic11

little biased poll here in WiiU daily…. but even still I am an big Microsoft fan, and I think that Nintendo’s presentation was the best. They came out swinging. Sony and Microsofts presentations were mostly games we have already seen. Can’t wait for the Master Chief collection, and more importantly Zelda!

  • Destructonator101

Even though its on a Nintendo news site, Nintendo did win e3 2014 without a doubt. Not there is actually ever a winner, as its great to see games like forza horizon 2 and destiny as well!

  • matt

    Nintendo won E3 by a lot….

    • oontz

They only thing they showed which is a day one buy for me was Zelda. Everything else was meh.

  • Josie the Sketcher

    Every console is a winner.
Nintendo wins the fun and diversity of games.
Microsoft wins the exclusive amount of games
Sony wins the graphically appealing award.

Still even with all these amazing games coming out, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will probably be the best selling game because sadly gamers don’t have a good taste nowadays

    • Blaze247

I know what you mean… I wish gaming was less on the same kind of idea over and over and OVER again. I like new things, which is what only a handful of game developers do nowadays.

  • Nate

Nintendo has always been my favorite video game company going back to the original NES, but I’ve been really down on them lately to the point of basically giving up on them. I think their E3 showing was really exciting and now I’m looking forward to so many games! Not a lot of suprises and almost everything is coming out in 2015 (some will be inevitably delayed until 2016), but I’ve been re-energized. The Mario Maker, Yoshi’s Yarn, Hyrule Warrios, Captain Toad’s Treasure, Zelda, and Splatoon look great. I’ve never played Bayonetta before, but adding the first game to the package makes it a more attractive offer to me.

I think Sony had a great show too. I’ll have to pick up a PS4 eventually being some of my favorite developers are still making exclusives for Sony (Sucker Punch, Naughty Dog, Insomniac). A new Uncharted game and Ratchet and Clank game have me sold. Also, I may have to get at PS4 just for No Man’s Sky. Holy cow that games looks amazing! Like something I’ve never seen before.

  • Mystic Snowman

I think I’d have to say Foxconn, since they’re the only company that manufactures the consoles.

  • MerryBlind .

I think that, for maybe the first time ever, all 3 of them were really good. All 3 showed what the fans wanted to see, though all 3 only showed tidbits of what the fans wanted to see lol. It was 3 big tease presentations! But they were all good!

I voted Nintendo just because of Zelda (and Bayo 1+2 is a VERY welcome surprise), but Microsoft really make me want to get an X1 now just because of that amazing Halo collection. Meanwhile Sony was probably the weakest because it didn’t have an Ace up their sleeves like the 2 others, but it was still pretty good.

  • uPadWatcher

    Final results in my POV–

    Gold – Nintendo
    Silver – Microsoft
Bronze – Ubiso– I mean Sony.

    • oontz

Not sure what you mean with the last part…?

      • Rogelio

        I think he meant Ubisoft…

  • Adrian Byrne

i own a wiiu ps4 and a xone (lucky git) and i am not a fan boy of any as they all have good and bad points but after watching the BIG 3 events i vote nintendo, apart from games i already am looking forward to they did not really give me anything to look forward to but fair play to nintendo they had a few corkers

  • brian

You’re really asking who won? On a site devoted to Nintendo fans?

  • Brandon

    GTA 5 nuff said.

  • lonewolf88

why is sony ahead micros was atleast second best atleast there conference was just games and they didn’t start off with a dlc for a game like sony did really? you show destiny than dlc? wtf XD

  • TalesOfBS

    >Asking who won E3 after Nintendo showed everyone what an E3 is.

    Lol.

  • Leo

Zelda totally won this show! I mean, FINALLY we have a real open world Zelda, something they tried to emulate since OOT, but it wasn’t really possible. This Zelda is what we all have been waiting for since 1998. The art style totally fits the concept of fantasy and looks like a beautiful painting in motion! Really beautiful!

  • Leo

Splatoon thankfully is a bit of fresh air in the gaming landscape! Its very creative! It looks great and incredibly fun in online multiplayer mode!

  • William Cole

Open zelda should generate more wii u sales.
