Both retail and digital copies of Bayonetta 2 come with first game

bayonetta-2-box

One of the questions raised by many during the Nintendo E3 presentation was whether or not digital copies of the game would also receive the first Bayoentta, as the E3 presentation only made mention of the boxed copy containing both games. Nintendo of America has put these fears to rest by stating that retail editions of Bayonetta 2 will include a disc copy of Bayonetta HD, while those who want to download Bayonetta 2 will receive a code to download Bayonetta HD for free.

This is the same distribution agreement that will be in place for Europe as well, so if you were worried about picking up the game digitally and having to miss out on the remastered Bayonetta 1, you’re safe as you’ll be getting the title as well.

I am getting the physical copy :D

  • Christian Schoff

    PHYSICAL YEAH!!!

    • nin-10-doughfan

      let’s get physical -^

haha was just going to write that!

Well I want the physical copy but I have to buy them digitally because of Nintendo and their stupid as fuck region lock.

Why the fuck is Wii U still region locked? The fuck Nintendo? The fuck is wrong with you??

    • uPadWatcher

What the fuck is wrong with YOU?! If you want to play an import video game on Wii U, buy yourself a Japanese system. Problem solved.

Furthermore, pay attention to the article. The Bayonetta 2 collection will contain two discs. The first disc is Bayonetta 2… and the second disc is Bayonetta HD.

      • D.M.T

Nothing is wrong with me you idiot. I used to live in Europe which is why I have a European Wii U but since this console is region locked I can’t buy retail games where I live now. I have download them all. I won’t solve the problem by buying a Japanese Wii U dumbass. And yes I did pay attention to the article, doesn’t change the fact that i have to download all the games.

        • Rinslowe

I’m in the same boat. And for the record I think it’s one of those archaic decisions Nintendo needs to change ASAP. A UK Ninty rep told me recently that it was due to the “warranty” difference between regions. Then went on the explain he also thinks region locking is an outdated idea. Using the PS3 as an example lol…
But yeah, you may need to just suck it up huh. I download everything most of the time. But have my “home” console connected to a wireless router/ 1TB hard drive which is self powered and seems to work fine. At least so far and roughly a hundred gigabytes used. Otherwise I buy the discs when back in the region where I bought this console. Two or three times a year…

          • D.M.T

I live in The Caribbean so it’s impossible for me to go to Europe two or three times a year.

          • Rinslowe

Ok, I can respect that you can’t travel that often. But most of my games are downloaded. About 80% or more. So long as you have the right hard drive….

    • Christian Schoff

Wait why do you have to get them digitally? Is the game not coming to a store near you?

      • D.M.T

I live in the Caribbean and I have a European Wii U (because I used to live in Europe) so no I can’t buy retail games.

    • Arthur Jarret

4x Fuck in two sentences, one post.
      Lacking something in your life?

But yeah, region lock sucks – especially when Bayo 1 is only included with the more expensive special edition over here and Shin megami tensei 4 – despite Nintendo stating they were working hard on translation – getting an English-only, Digital-only full-priced release a friggin year later.

      • darkcreap

Ouch. It is not Bayonetta 1 included for free in European Territory?

        • C4

There’s a separate Bayonetta 2 release without Bayo 1 due to age ratings and a ‘special edition’ with both. Bayo 2 is rated for ages 16+ and Bayo 1 is rated 18+ in Germany.

There’s no info on pricing or regions with less strict age ratings yet as far as I know.

          • darkcreap

Um, Age rating 16 for Bayonetta 2 in Europe if I did well my quick search, while 18 for Bayonetta 1, right? PEGI system I assume. Well, I guess this is not Nintendo’s fault if they want to maximise the sales of Bayo 2 by giving a detached option. It is reasonable.

          • C4

Yep, PEGI’s rating are the same as the german USK for these 2 games.

  • Petri

    Getting both.
    But anyways, old news.
Currently reporting that there is physical Bayonetta 1 disc coming with Bayonetta 2.

    • D.M.T

Yeah…Wii U Daily is kinda slow but i still love this site. If only they could get rid of the boring trolls we have here

      • Petri

Well, this one is old news even by Wii U Dailys standards.
As for trolls, its not that bad over here.

        • MerryBlind .

Agreed. The Wii U Daily community seems so small that I find it actually quite civil and friendly over here.

          • Jonathan Robitaille

you’ve been conditioned slowly over time. The constant derisive comments, the comparisons to Sony, the complaints and calling people out on a fan site for being fanboys. Over time it becomes so second nature. Also, people continue to engage in actual conversations with them not even realizing they are trolling them. Lots of dumb people on here. Complacency is laziness. Don’t accept the trolling. Fight back. Take back our board!!

          • MerryBlind .

I think you’re just taking all this a bit too seriously…

          • Daniel Gonzalez

I’m honestly fine how anyone views me on here. It certainly isn’t killing me. Though, there’s a fine line between craziness and insanity.

          • Petri

I dont know if its that small.
“mynintendonews” is small, and that’s a battlefield.
IGN is huge… I dont even bother with the comments there, since 99% are the same, and coming like 1 post per second.

          • MerryBlind .

            Yeah IGN is insane nowadays.

      • David Trail

          • matthew garcia

Lol I don’t know if the fantastic 4 can beat this guy. Will have to do the impossible

          • Daniel Gonzalez

            Get him new wallpaper?

          • matthew garcia

That would be nice. I could help I’m a manager at home depot. I know a thing or two about interior design

          • Rinslowe

I had his brother post to me yesterday, the reason for their house being so unkempt is due to their dad passing away recently.
I was like, did someone just kick me in the balls? Really? That is the type of people we’re talking about here – Dave and his little brother are whack jobs man. Through and through.
My condolences go out to them for their loss. But who uses that as a reason for anything?
            WTF!

          • Daniel Gonzalez

So he has a brother on here too? Huh…never noticed it.

          • Rinslowe

Neither did I until I got whacked with the whack job routine…
But who knows. Maybe just another account…

          • Arthur Jarret

            More like an A-team.

Why did David leave me out? He apparently thinks I’m a troll too. Can I joint the fantastic 4 too, lol?

          • matthew garcia

            Lol sure you can

          • David Trail

You are starting to become a troll. Don’t sink that far.

          • 00EpicGamer00

You’ve called me a troll a million times. What do you mean “don’t sink that far?”

        • Arthur Jarret

Get rid of those and the comment section would be boooooooriiiiiiing

          • matthew garcia

Thanks man. I’m really not a troll. I love Nintendo. I love them so much that I feel I notice there flaws and would like some things to change. I love to debate the matter. I don’t mean to upset people

          • Daniel Gonzalez

If anything, fanboys and trolls are one in the same. They both bring about the worst in each other. It’s evident that many people like crazy Davey for example, have a hard time identifying what an actual troll is. I’m in the same boat as you. Love Nintendo, but don’t support their way of business of the past two generations. If that upsets people, then it’s just a personal problem that they have to resolve on their own. ;p

          • Rinslowe

I don’t think it upsets people at all Daniel. At least not your personal opinions or beliefs. Most people probably don’t care too much either way. Same goes for everyone really. As you say it’s the internet.
Other things get people worked up I’ve noticed….
And yeah, it’s funny that after most people here including yourself have had an opportunity to flesh out their own strong opinions about the use of the words “Fanboy” and “Troll” a week or so ago – when we had a genuine troll/ verbal diarrhea-ist – the words are still being thrown around liberally.
            Go figure.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

“I don’t think it upsets people at all Daniel. At least not your personal
opinions or beliefs. Most people probably don’t care too much either
way. Same goes for everyone really. As you say it’s the internet.”

Which is why I said “if,”because I can’t say for the record that it’s true. However, I think some people are the exception.

“Fanboy” and “Troll” a week or so ago – when we had a genuine troll/ verbal diarrhea-ist – the words are still being thrown around liberally.
            Go figure.”

Naturally. It would be nice not to have them thrown around, but they do serve their purpose from time to time. It’s pretty difficult to avoid the terms. For people like Davey, though, I don’t know what would be the proper way to describe him, or anyone in that regard. Crazy? Insane? Whackjob?

          • Rinslowe

I agree, on occasion they fit the description. Still. Too liberally used my many.
David Trail… Hard to disagree with most peoples approximations there. There be some priorities missing, if you know what I mean…

          • Daniel Gonzalez

I think I know what you mean….but for the sake of your morning coffee….I’ll spare you the thought.

          • Rinslowe

I had tea today. Earl Grey. Just in case…
Thanks for the sentiment, though. My coffee arrives tomorrow morning.

        • MerryBlind .

Well I don’t know for Oontz (didn’t notice that name), but the 3 others aren’t trolls.
Actually, Magnus does troll often, but it’s often so blatantly obvious sarcasm or flame-bait that it’s just entertaining.
Daniel complains a bit too much and seems a bit too cynical for nothing at times, but he does have some interesting inputs and down-to-earth opinions on many articles.
Matthew more or less like Daniel lol.

          • Jonathan Robitaille

no, they really are. The list of users calling them out for trolling over the months is vast. just because they are slick about it doesn’t make them any better than the in your face type trolls (like Magnus on his worst days).

        • Jonathan Robitaille

exactly. sadly, there is a certain troll sympathizer that is slowly becoming rather annoying as well. Keep up the good fight David. Your efforts are appreciated. A certain sign of a troll and their sympathizer is their consistent and predictable responses to your posts.

        • InterTreble

          Exactly! (x2) ;)

      • InterTreble

        Exactly! ;)

  • D.M.T

The first Bayonetta on Wii U is called Bayonetta Ultimate and not Bayonetta HD

    • matthew garcia

Yeah that’s right. Bayonetta has always been hd

      • MerryBlind .

Hopefully it’s gonna be ‘full’ HD now though ;)

        • Orpheus010

yeah, HD means instead of running it at an upscaled sub 720p res like ps3 and xbox, wii u will be at 1080p. that is the only reasoning i find in the statement “Bayonetta HD”

          • MerryBlind .

Humm I thought Bayonetta was 720p, not sub like other games… As for the title, maybe it’s just called “Bayonetta” for all we know, and people just refer to it as “HD” to know which version we’re talking about.

    • RyuNoHadouken

any news if it was remastered with high res textures or a straight port?

  • Daniel Gonzalez

” those who want to download Bayonetta 2 will receive a code to download Bayonetta HD for free.”

    • Arthur Jarret

Except for europeans, who’ll need to buy a more expensive ‘special edition’.
      Grrr

      • linkzero65

“This is the same distribution agreement that will be in place for Europe as well”

    • Matthew Stapleton

Man that image is just……creepy lol

    • Rinslowe

I get the impression he’s a little confused about what he’s getting for free. Lol
Before the era of video games, perhaps.
Someone needs to tell this man Bayonetta is just a 3D model… Not a playboy bunny.

      • Daniel Gonzalez

I don’t think he’d complain one way or another.

        • Rinslowe

So a booth and wipes it is then…

  • bistricky

Finally, Nintendo announce the right answer. Cheers Nintendo. :D

    • Daniel Gonzalez

Happy Birthday! Slipped my mind yesterday. :D

      • bistricky

Awesome ….. may continued good karma go your way ….. thank you.

  • majora :D

So what if eventually someone wants the first Bayonetta only? It will be avaible to normally purchase right?

    • FutureFox

That’s a non-issue. At worst you have an extra game, of which you can sell or trade in.

  • Will W

    Good to know!

  • Rich Garriques

hm so both baynettas are seperate disc hmmm , i thought they would both be on one disc since its bd rom.

    • MerryBlind .

Yeah me too. Maybe they made a mistake in the article?

  • Nico Richards

i bet the download size is going to be huge

    • Rich Garriques

yeah im already running outta space on my wii u , not buying a hdd yet , im keeping it physical for now. most of the titles i buy digital is only if their is no other option.

  • darkcreap

I have just read in this comment section that for Europe you will need to buy a special edition. Not good, but nice any way.

    • Petri

And I’ll wait for more credible source.
Though my retailer has the game in listing, and claiming both games for normal price.

      • darkcreap

Another user, @Le_me:disqus, says that it has to do with age ratings. It seems that Bayo 1 was rated 18 in Europe and Bayo 2 is rated 16 in Europe, which would explain that they give the option to have a detached edition. I suppose that bundling the two would automatically raise the age rating of the set to 18. Just a guess, though.

        • Petri

I doubt they are giving this game 16. PEGI ratings has not gotten any less strict, and Bayo 2 still contains the same elements that it did in the first game, blood and violence alone takes a game to PEGI 18.
And my retailer lists it as 18.

          • darkcreap

No, I read that it is rated 16:
            https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Wii-U/Bayonetta-2-765382.html

There in that page I link it says 16 according to PEGI rating (The logo is a bit small, but you can see it on the right). Maybe it is not a definitive rating, who knows. If it is 18 for Bayonetta 2 as you say, then this move has not got much sense, unless they are going to make the standard edition cheaper.

      • darkcreap

Strange, Nintendo UK says PEGI 16.

        https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Wii-U/Bayonetta-2-765382.html

Maybe it is not a definitive rating, who knows.

        • Petri

Nintendo does not set PEGI ratings.
PEGI currently has no rating for Bayonetta 2.
It is rather weird that they expect to get lower rating on the game, unless they plan on censoring it for EU, in which case I would get pissed.

          • darkcreap

Yes, I know. Maybe they already sent it for review and know the score? Or maybe it is a temporary one and then it will get an 18 rating.

          • Petri

Well, PEGI ratings are usually up week or so before the game gets released here:
            http://www.pegi.info/en/

Not sure if the game is finished yet, Japan release got pushed to September.
But I would expect the Bayo 1 deal to be a special edition, they might eventually start selling it separately on eShop.

  • GuillermoMMonroe

This is the same distribution agreement that will be in place for Europe as well, so if you were worried about picking up the game digitally and having to miss out on the remastered Bayonetta 1, you’re safe as you’ll be getting the title as well. http://num.to/264-974-592-824

  • Hikingguy

Great. I am buying the disks.

  • Rinslowe

I thought this was confirmed a week after E3….

  • C.S. Bailey

I think I’ll actually pick up the physical copies of these games. I’ve downloaded my last few games, and I’m starting to miss going to the store.

  • https://www.facebook.com/BlueLightningTechnicalServices Bob Wilkerson

I held out hope that Nintendo (and Platinum Games) would hear the requests of the fans and bring Bayonetta 1 to the Wii U but I had no idea that they would do it for free… Kudos to Nintendo and Platinum… Not many other game companies would do this.

  • george

it wouldbeawesome to see metal gear rising revengeance on the wii u, doesn´t hurt to dream #crushedreams#neverwillhappen

    • Epicstuf

Stop with the HASTAGS. This isn’t Instagram or Snapshot.

  • InterTreble

I’d like to hear from people who troll and hate Nintendo all the day, who always keep saying other consoles will receive ALL the games, and Wii U only first party, platform and Mario games, how they will be able to play Bayonetta 2 on their beloved consoles. Simply, they won’t. So, “PS4 and X1 will have all the games, Wii U won’t” is basically wrong, and it makes them appearing as perfect idiots! ;)

  • Guest

    Bayonetta HD?!
    PS3/360 wasn’t HD?!

    • Orpheus010

ps3 and xbox360 ran it at like sub 720P resolution upscaled. So i assume bayonetta on wii u will run at 1080p
