Official Media Create numbers for Japan will be in tomorrow, but according to industry analyst David Gibson, Famitsu is reporting that Mario Kart 8 moved 512,467 units in Japan for the month of June. That’s a nice number that will likely increase over the long-tail as more people pick up a Wii U.
We won’t have numbers for North America until the end of this month, but considering that Nintendo has stated that Mario Kart 8 has already sold 2 million units worldwide, it’s not hard to see that Mario Kart 8 is on its way to being a critical and commercial success. Hopefully Nintendo can continue this momentum with the release of Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.
