NES Remix getting a retail release in North America

nes-remix-thumb

The San Diego Comic-Con took place over the weekend, With Nintendo live-streaming events and a Super Smash Bros. 3DS tournament during that time. It was also announced that the recent NES Remix retail version that was released in Japan will be released in North America, too. No release date or price was given for the bundle, but expect that information soon in a Nintendo Direct that addresses what’s coming in the holiday season.

This marks yet another of Nintendo’s digital efforts being translated to retail shelf space, which is good for those who don’t want to upgrade the hard drive space in their Wii U bundle. Will you be purchasing this, or do you already own the two games on the eShop? Let us know in the comments.

    So…
What was the special surprise at comic-con?

    • Phoenix Maybe

Super Mario World Galaxy-Shine 64 HD

      • Milky Bacons

        xD If only…

    • Kobe

They just said there would be some surprises. They showed Darunia gameplay, I think they had a new Bayoneta trailer, they had the above anouncment, and a few
      other small surprises.

BS! I want a remix that jumps into SNES era! C’Mon!!!

    • Razo_E

So you want an SNES Remix game….

      • Andrew W Garttmeyer

Was that not clear in my original statement? The ‘BS’ was because I was all excited when I saw ‘remix news’ and it was only for a physical copy of a game I already have.

You know, I was disappointed at comic com from nintendo. All they showed was smash, not other games, atleast on day I on their stream. As a person who doesn’t play smash or care about it, ninty let me down. ALSO, IS CAPTAIN TOAD THE ONLY NEW GAME ANNOUNCED COMING THIS YEAR, THATS SAD

    • Brendan Foley

It’s not the only game, but the others were already announced at E3. Comic con isn’t exactly the traditional venue for announcing lots of new games.

When did you watch?! I came for the Smash and there was hardly any. There was a Mario Kart 8 tourney, a Super Mario Bros speedrun, a Super Luigi Bros speedrun, a playthrough of Ufouria: the Saga, a speedrun of The Mysterious Murasame Castle, a playthrough of Bayonetta, a playthrough of Xenoblade X, and a speedrun of Shovel Knight with the developers. Those are just the ones off the top of my head.

      • Devesh

DUDE, WHEN!?!? IN THE STARTING 4 HOURS SMASH, I RANDOMLY TUNED IN ABOUT 7 TIMES THORUGHT THE STREAM, AND GUESS WHAT, MORE DONKEY KONG KICKING ZELDAS ASS

        • rp17

I watched that all on Saturday…

There was some Smash sprinkled in but it was like 5 mins of Smash, 20 of something else, 5 mins of Smash, 30 of something else, etc… With long breaks inbetween everything…

  • Devesh

I WANT WII REMIX, A WII U REMIX, A 64REMIX, GAMECUBE REMIX, 3D REMIX, DS REMIX, AND THEN A REMIX OF ALL OF THE CONSOLES FOR WII U!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • triplegamer3K .

      WHY STOP AT NINTENDO SYSTEMS?
      WHY NOT ATARI 2600 REMIX,MAGNAVOX ODESSY REMIX,SEGA MASTER SYSTEM REMIX,SEGA CD REMIX,TURBOGRAFX 16 REMIX,SEGA 32X REMIX,ATARI JAGWARE REMIX,AND TIGER LCD HAND HELD REMIX,BECAUSE WHY THE HELL NOT? :D

  • Gizmo

Sounds interesting, but personally I’d buy it digital rather than physical.

    • Kobe

The last one was the MK8 direct. I don’t think they are doing the regular directs anymore, where Iwata just talks about stuff.

  • Rymaar

I’d prefer Nintendo tell us straight from the get-go that they are planning on releasing both a digital and retail version of their games. I’d much rather have the physical copy, but I downloaded both NES Remixes and Wii Sports HD thinking they were going be exclusively digital. I guess I should wait a few months before I buy anything on the eShop…

    • thedeciderU

yes, lesson learned. i hate downloads. you don’t technically own anything, except the right to play it until the hd dies. i hope shovel knight will get a physical release. i may have to rebuy yet another game.
