Ubisoft Q1 2014 financials show why it’s abandoning Wii U

ubisoft_sales_breakdown

Today Ubisoft had a conference meeting for their Q1 2014 results. The biggest take away from the report is that Watch Dogs has managed to ship 8 million units worldwide, despite not being available yet for the Wii U. Aside from that, sales are up 374% over the previous year.

The Wii U and Nintendo 3DS didn’t contribute much to this number however, as you can see the Wii U is only responsible for 3% of sales, while the Nintendo 3DS fared even worse at only 1% of sales for the company. It should be noted that the only Ubisoft release during this quarter for the Wii U was Child of Light, as Watch Dogs has been delayed to an undetermined point in time.

it’s me or this news is old news?…

it have to be less… nothing new from ubi for wii u. games with no DLC, etc.

    • http://about.me/overlordror Ashley King

No, it’s not old news. The financial information was just released today.

      • http://ejercitogeek.net/ Mercurio2054

yes, have to read tow times. sorry.

  • maverickbleh

Well their major release for that quarter, Watch Dogs was not even released on the Wii U. Obviously the Wii U didn’t contribute much.

    • http://ejercitogeek.net/ Mercurio2054

      yea

    • great deku tree

and I think it’ll contribute next to nothing when it does finally release on the wii u anyway. think about it by the time it releases (which we don’t even know yet, so probably next year or something) it’ll be full price on the wii u while if you walk down the store 3 feet along you’ll come across a PS3/4 version which has dropped price by quite a lot. which would you choose?
I was going to get the game for the wii u but really when I talk to other people hat have played it there seems to be a consensus that the game was a bit underwhelming…..that it was all bark and little bite. I’ll maybe watch a let’s play to make my mind up but yeah I seriously doubt they’ll get a decent amount of sales.

      • CupOswaG

dawg don’t get it,……not worth it, gameplay is decent for the story, but the online and extra missions are so repetitive and bland. worth 20 bux used, my friends and i sold it after a week wishing we had kept our receipts to return… XD

        • ScrewAttack

Saddens me to hear that, but then it makes the late Wii U release a blessing in disguise since now we can avoid it entirely :D

      • Rinslowe

Exactly. Any exec in Ubisoft would not respect a sale made on Wii U anyway. Based on them knowing very well the situation with discounts on other platforms at that relative point in time. I’d bet they look at any Wii U owners that buy into their full price late to market offering, as a chump.
Most people do actually own multiple systems today. And it’s true for many Wii U owners despite what morons like Blackbond (youtube) like to preach to the contrary. So where is the advantage now? I remember being an advocate for Ubisoft and Watchdogs a few months back. But how in good conscience can they be supported with this continued nonsense?
Then they release sales % and also expect the average gamer is gullible enough to fall for their recent public excuses, as to why they no longer support the platform??
Well, truth be told that’s their prerogative. But if they do decide to release a title like Rayman and now Watchdogs. Don’t bloody release it months later than it’s finished or after other versions have made it to market. Between those two titles is a clear and pure line of sight to their hypocrisy. Rayman was delayed due to releasing on other platforms. While Watchdogs releases late to finish those other platforms first.
Ubisoft have been Nintendo’s most consistent third party supporter. But these types of decisions undoes any advantage in public perception they may have managed so far. And I think any Wii U owners that now are reluctant to support Ubisoft on the platform – specifically for late or gimped ports are well within their rights to think that way.
If you’re going to support a platform then just do it. That’s that part they’ve forgotten.

    • Dark Lord Sauron

due to ubisoft delaying the game which its their fault why none of their games sell well on the wii u

  • anthony optimo

People always say Nintendo “rehashes” it’s franchises, but Ubisoft may have taken that title from Nintendo. 7 main titles of assassins creed and 15 spinoffs since 2007…

    • Ducked

The people that say that are the ones that play EA Sports games and CoD.

      • companyoflosers

seriously! and at least nintendo is creatve and makes their games distinguishable from each other when they re-use an ip. cod and sports games are basically just small updates for each other. in short at least nintendo games are worth their price tag.

        • Ducked

It’s all what you do what with your IP. Companies can give us a new IP with the same game experience we’ve played before. Nintendo constantly adds new experiences in its IP’s.

  • Epicstuf

Ubisoft doesn’t even relase exciting games anymore for the Wii U and the 3DS. That’s why Ubisoft is failing with the Wii U and 3DS.

  • Lil J Moore

Ok besides CoL what have they released? nothing this is their fault

  • ScrewAttack

I wish I could say I was bothered, but beside Watchdogs they really don’t have anything coming that interests me.

    • Lil J Moore

A new Prince of Persia game would interest me greatly

      • ScrewAttack

        Never got into that series.

Not a trend unique to Ubi though. WB, EA, most third party titles on the way don’t particularly grab me. Destiny, MGSV and that’s about it. I think.

        • great deku tree

there’s also mortal kombat X…….which is skipping the wii u. that’s WB though and they’ve already ditched the wii u with the latest batman game as well. what was their excuse again? something like the wii u couldn’t handle the bat-mobile or some other load of rubbish.

          • abe

also ditched current gen systems too so the specs excuse dose hold some water i doubt they’d kill a 360 and a ps3 port just so they would nice excuse not to do a wii U version

          • ScrewAttack

Not a fan of that series either, or Street fighter. MvC 2 I like.
Yeah that was their shit stain of an excuse. But s’okay, I couldn;t be arsed to play the last three Batman games so I don’t care about this one either :D

I just don’t have the free time I used to play every game here there and everywhere, so I’ll just trim all the fat and only play the game series I really enjoy. I mean, I gave Ass Creed a go and it was such a steaming pile! CoD is dead to me, Battlefield 3 I enjoy but BF4 is fucked and they’re just going to release another broken pile this year…..there’s not a lot left in the third party world I actually care for. Feels like the bubble’s gonna burst soon imo.

They should bring World of Tanks to Wii U though. I love World of Tanks.

      • Epicstuf

OOH. More hack and slash, parkour, puzzle action would be great!

  • David Trail

Don’t release game on time. Wonders why games are not selling as well on Wii U, utter BS.

    • Lil J Moore

Or release it with missing content

      • David Trail

Exactly, I think Zombi U sold nearly 1 million. Not bad for a new ip and a launch title.

        • Lil J Moore

A proper sequel and advertisements would do it good. i love zombiu even with its faults

          • David Trail

It already has a fan base and Wii U is selling now. What is there excuse?

          • Epicstuf

            Lazyness.

          • David Trail

They want to milk lame games imo.

          • Epicstuf

Like Watch Dogs. I pesrsonally didn’t like the game, And I really didn’t understand why there was so much hype surrounding the game.

          • David Trail

Plus it only sold 2 million on a console with 8 million customers. Not good at all and they won’t make a Zombi U 2.

          • Epicstuf

Hmm. Is Ubisoft becoming the new EA?

          • David Trail

Their games don’t even sell that well on PS4. Maybe they are missing something. Stop milking games and making mainstream garbage.

          • Epicstuf

Or they can bring back the good old games. Like Rayman, PoP and Beyond Good & Evil.

          • ScrewAttack

Looks like all your troll shit got deleted :) Try harder next time.

How is Beyond good & evil? I’ve heard of it, but never played it. Was it a PS2 title?

          • Epicstuf

            Troll.

          • ScrewAttack

Yes you are sir! Very good, have a biscuit. And butt out, epicgamer and I are talking.

          • Epicstuf

Read this book. When you get the chance.

          • ScrewAttack

You forgot the link in your witty retort.

I also note that you would rather continue to be hostile and inflammatory rather than reply to my course-corrector and tell me about a game series you clearly love. Unless link related, in which case I apologise.

          • Epicstuf

            Search it on Google, dumbass.

          • ScrewAttack

“Read this book. When you get the chance.”

That was your last post. Are you retarded? Google what exactly?

          • Epicstuf

Search It on Google. Wow. You are absent minded.

          • ScrewAttack

Whatevs troll, if you don’t want to tell me what you wanted me to google you can bite me :)

          • Epicstuf

            Can’t you read? *facepalm*

          • ScrewAttack

I like how now you’re filling up the comments space with retarded nothings after your bitch-fit earlier over people having a discussion. Truly, a fine ten year old you are sir!

          • Epicstuf

You are filling the comment space with nothing but, stupid, smart ass remarks because you started the war.

          • ScrewAttack

Did I now? Pretty sure you were the one screaming for us to shut the fuck up. I even gave outs so we could talk about something nice, but nope you just kept on going. Not ten minutes ago I was trying to talk about something you love, but you’d rather act like a child. Tired of it yet? I can come up with smartass remarks all night,

          • Epicstuf

From ScrewAttack’s words,”……what are you, ten?” You started the war. Dipshit.

          • ScrewAttack

Omg! I swooped on you out of the blue and insulted you!

            …oh wait

“Well, Goddamit. Now there is a FUCKING COMMENT WAR! JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP!”

Right there. Acting like a petulant child. Started it. It’s also not a war, dipshit, it’s an argument. I know you kids these days need to make everything a war cos “omfg war teh coolest yeah CoD banging bitches and blunts” but jesus h christ sit back and read the shit that you’re typing. I can only imagine how much trouble you’d be in if your mom walked in.

          • Epicstuf

CoD sucks. Not creative and not innovative. Hate all shooters of today because they are not fun. And you were the one who started it. You replied a comment that didn’t make any sense to 00EpicGamer00. So just shut your piehole.

          • ScrewAttack

Agreed. I mean, I appreciate how tight the controls are now in the latest ones, but it’s lack of anything new from game to game means it relies entirely on its multiplayer, which should be really fun but is spoilt by the hoards of campers. Just increases my blood pressure to play nowadays, so sold em all off. Zombies on Black Ops 1 is pretty good fun though, take a look at that.

Say it as much as you want, doesn’t make it true. I appreciate it’s difficult to admit you were wrong, so I won’t make you.
Yes, as at the time his line of thinking made no sense to me. Since then we’ve talked about it and come to an understanding. Meanwhile, you’re still bouncing around like a ten year old.

            So shut YOUR piehole ;)

          • 00EpicGamer00

You’re kind of making me look bad. :/
It’s not that I didn’t understand it, we both just had different view points on the subject. And honestly, I didn’t exactly do a good job at wording what I was trying to say. So, I can see where the confusion was. You can calm down now, lol.

          • MasterChief2004

          • 00EpicGamer00

You can stop messing with ScrewAttack, you know? It’s all fine now. We both just had to….get everything out of our system.

          • ScrewAttack

Debate gets people worked up sometimes :) I dunno what this kid’s on though, needs less sugar I think.

BGE is awesome and was on all 6th (is that right) gen consoles. I actually plaed it on GC but it was also on xbox, pc, and ps2. A few years ago they did an HD remake for ps3/x360 with digital release. Its a 3rd person action/adventure wyh a female lead who has a humanoid pig sidekick…its strange sort of a steamworld type vibe…..I would love a sequel.

          • abe

i think as new wii u owners appear they’ll be happy to pick up zombiu for less than a tenner

        • Epicstuf

Yet Ubisoft treats it like it’s bad to sell 1 million. Start off with a game that doesn’t sell well. Then another. Then another.

          • David Trail

Plus it is a new ip. Imagine how much a Zombi U 2 will sell? 2 to 3 million easily.

          • Epicstuf

            That would be great.

          • Angelo G

They should not call it Zombie U2. Nintendo might get sued once again, and now by Bono.

        • matthew garcia

Guess what, watch dogs sold over 2 million on ps4 alone in the same time frame as mk8 and its a new ip also.

          • David Trail

It was bundled lol and ps4 has 8 million customers. 2 million is a joke.

          • matthew garcia

Another game delayed for Wii u that’s a good joke lol. Wii u version of project cars not til 2015 while I’ll enjoy on ps4 this November

    • matthew garcia

It will sell bad on Wii u no matter what time. It’s like most Wii u owners only dust off there Wii u’s when a certain Nintendo game comes out and then it goes right back in the closet right after that. They buy nothing in between

      • David Trail

        Yeah sure.

        • matthew garcia

Lol I just found out that project cars for Wii u is delayed til 2015. All other consoles will still get it on November. This is to funny

      • Daniel Gonzalez

So far this gen, that has been the case.

  • Gabe Hoffman

This isn’t really a fair assessment since Ubisoft has hardly released anything for Wii U so far this year

    • David Trail

Exactly, Watch Dogs only sold 2 million on ps4 as well. Which is not good at all for a console with 8 million customers.

      • FoxMulder900

A 25% adoption rate is actually really good.

        • David Trail

Not really 8 million customers and the hype it had is rather pathetic.

          • FoxMulder900

Dude it broke some sales records, it did well. And who has 80 million customers?

          • David Trail

It was on every console and pc. It only sold 2 million on ps4.

          • FoxMulder900

Ok well then that means 10% of the customer base bought the game in the first month of its release. I’m not sure why you don’t think those are good numbers.

          • 00EpicGamer00

David doesn’t think those are good numbers, because he hates the PS4. He constantly bashes it on this site. Even if it doesn’t make sense. Just ignore him.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

He’s also the same dude who said that true gamers don’t bash consoles. Go figure.

          • ScrewAttack

A shame, the PS4’s shaping up to be fairly awesome.

Pisses me off that to get the white one with Destiny I have to overpay at GAME. Fuck GAME.

          • 00EpicGamer00

I know! I want one so bad! I’m just waiting for more games I’m interested in to come out. Also, I apologize for that huge comment war nonsense. No hard feelings? I respect your opinion. I know that not everything Ubisoft makes is pure gold. I just love the Assassin’s Creed franchise (my first was 3 on the Wii U) and I’m going to miss it. :(

          • ScrewAttack

Ah I’m hoping to pick one up when Destiny hits, but willing to wait til I can get one for under £350. Naw that’s nothing buddy, people have differing opinions and disagree :) I respect yours too, I just don;t think it was worded the best it could be. I know who you mean is the problem though, but sadly we’ll never see the back of those people.
Well bud, Black Flag looks like the pinnacle if you ask me, worst comes to it you could always pick them up on PS4 when you get it. Wait long enough and they’ll be cheaper too which can’t hurt.

          • Magnus Eriksson

Is it worth to pick up yet? Im thinking about doing that in a couple of years anyways, but I might just do it now if interesting stuff is happening.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

It’s obvious that David is a huge Nintendo fanboy. If he doesn’t like PS4 games, then why buy a PS4 at all? I don’t really have an interest in Wii U games, which is why I don’t have a Wii U. I love 3DS games, that’s why I have a 3DS. Makes little sense to invest in something that goes to waste. Though, most believe his persona is fake and this is just an act for attention. Which isn’t out of the realm of possibility. I think I don’t ignore him because it’s rather comical to watch him struggle to make a decent argument.

          • 00EpicGamer00

Was there ever any doubt he wasn’t a Nintendo fanboy? Every comment he writes, is a dead give away. I absolutely agree that it’s pretty sad that David goes out and buys a PS4, when he doesn’t even like it. And I’m sitting over here, wanting one so badly. Then to see someone who hs one, and doesn’t even use it. Is just like a slap in the face to me. I could of had that PS4. I could be actually using it right now. But oh no, that guy has to have one, when he doesn’t even like it or use it. -.-

          • Daniel Gonzalez

For David’s case, I think he just bought a PS4 too early which resulted him being disappointed. Now he’s going on a rampage to crap on it for whatever reason that may be. In the situation of Watch Dogs, I think it’s just the fact that it’s not out on Wii U at this time, so now the games success is irrelevant to him. Sour grapes pretty much. It certainly doesn’t upset me if a particular game doesn’t release on a system I like. I just either get it for that console, or don’t at all. Always something new on the horizon.

          • David Trail

Watch Dogs on 2 million on PS4 with 8 million customers lol and it was bundled lol.

          • Jonathan Robitaille

He just argues in favor of the Wii U because it’s a better system with better games right now. I have a feeling come xmas 2015 PS4 will have made him happy and he will be more proud of it. There really is going to be a shit ton of games on it by then.

          • David Trail

Trust me, you’re not missing much.

          • 00EpicGamer00

Why would I trust you, exactly? Besides, “you’re not missing much” is completely subjective. I’d like to play Knack (it looks like an adorable little platformer), maybe Killzone, I’d like to try infamous. Maybe I’ll see what 3rd party games I have on my Wii U look and play like on my PS4 (when I get one). And that’s just games that are already out. I might try Destiny, definitely the new Assassin’s Creed, The Evil Within, perhaps I’ll try the new Batman game, Little Big Planet 4, The Wolf Among Us (if I get a PS4 by then). The list goes on my friend.

          • nexxus6

However, you do invest a lot of time on the WiiU boards. Odd, that you don’t find your time valuable. You don’t want to waste an investment on the product, but yet you will waste your time talking about a product that you find a waste to invest in. Your circular logic is very exhausting.

          • http://ejercitogeek.net/ Mercurio2054

sorry this time i have to agree with nexxus @disqus_aWDc4YmJcG:disqus

          • Daniel Gonzalez

I’m not worried who you agree with, Merc. It’s all good whichever way it goes. Have a good one my friend.

          • http://ejercitogeek.net/ Mercurio2054

Good to know, but is just a constructive critic, i wand a ps4 (and if i have it will be my first ps), i don’t buy it because i have to use my money to other things, i know what games are coming and will be coming, but personally i don’t see me wasting time in a ps4daily web (or similar) talking to fanboys that will never change their mind …
i know, i know, it’s you time and you do with it what ever you want….

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Just because I don’t invest in a product, doesn’t mean I can’t talk about it. I invest my time into many boards that are not Wii U. So, I don’t know what your point was there. Other than to assume I would suspect. Also, I didn’t say it was a waste of a product, I said it was pointless to invest in a product(in David’s case the PS4) and let it go to waste. Seems you took my words out of context. Your circular logic isn’t exhausting to me, just makes me scratch my head. No offense. Not to trying to be a dick here, but you may take that however you like all the same. Good night to you, nexxus.

          • David Trail

You have no say about the Wii U Daniel, get lost!

          • David Trail

You seem to be on Wii U Daily enough. You must have some interest in Wii U games. Maybe your PS4 is not entertaining you enough?

          • Orange Lada

You should re-think the Wii U. These are the reasons I have one:

            http://kotaku.com/wii-u-review-update-20-months-later-1601718713

          • Daniel Gonzalez

I would guess because it’s not from Nintendo.

          • nexxus6

Then if we are using percentages, you must all agree that ZombiU sold quite well. Your “logic” has to work both ways also.

          • David Trail

            That is all.

          • David Trail

10% such a high figure lol.

          • great deku tree

            “8 million customers” ;)

          • FoxMulder900

You have the best user name ever created, congratulations :D

        • Magnus Eriksson

Its extremely good. Its more than almost every Wii U game have done.

          • FoxMulder900

Yep, the only exception is Mario Kart 8 I believe.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

            Sounds about right.

          • David Trail

            NSMBU 4 to 5 million.

          • bistricky

            Nintendo Land (3 million+) …….. Super Mario 3D World (2 million+).
            Cheers :D

          • 00EpicGamer00

To be fair, Nintendo Land was a packaged in game, so yeah it’s going to have a big number, lol. I didn’t know Mario 3D World was over 2 million. That’s nice to hear.

          • ScrewAttack

I’m still sad they never gave Nintendoland DLC, most of those games were really awesome.

          • Magnus Eriksson

Agree. Thats the DLC that would have made more sense than any. Well Wii Sports too…

          • Jonathan Robitaille

Watchdogs has a bundle too on PS4 and PS3 right?

          • 00EpicGamer00

          • David Trail

Killzone was bundled and only managed 2 million lol.

          • 00EpicGamer00

You do realize that the PS4 had two bundles when it launched, right? The Wii U only had one…which is Nintendo Land. If memory serves me correct, the PS4 had the Knack bundle and Killzone bundle when it launched. So, yeah there’s going to be fewer Killzone sales than Nintendo Land. Nintendo only had one choice, while Sony had two. Not really a fair comparison.

          • Jonathan Robitaille

But three months in there was a ZombiU bundle as well. I got one :)

          • 00EpicGamer00

That’s fine and dandy, but I’m talking about launch bundles. Not bundles that came a month or so after.

          • David Trail

No it isn’t you twat. What PS4 game has 4 to 5 million?

          • Epicstuf

            Killzone?

          • MasterChief2004

            ballz?

          • David Trail

            bundled

          • Daniel Gonzalez

What Wii U game does(besides the packed in bundles)?

          • David Trail

Doesn’t matter. Not all of those sales were from bundles. How come PS4 bundles do not sell as well?

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Same applies to the PS4. Not all of them are bundles. See how your argument makes zero sense?

          • David Trail

Watch Dogs and Killzone had bundles. Infamous an established ip and third game in the series only sold 1 million lol.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Pikmin 3 is also an established IP. not to mention DK:TF. Yet, both sold less than 1 million(according to sources). Go figure. Again, still not making sense.

          • Jonathan Robitaille

they are lesser IPs though. Not nearly on Zelda, Mario, Kart and Smash levels. But yeah, what a damn shame that Wii U owners can’t even be bothered to buy those two very high quality games.

          • David Trail

Yes but those games will pick up over time. Nintendo games sell over time because they are not forgotten in a week.

          • ScrewAttack

To be fair, multiplats vs exclusives isn’t a particularly level field for comparison.

      • Ducked

That’s actually very good. You can’t expect a huge majority on an install base to all buy the same game.

        • Daniel Gonzalez

Especially since it’s a multiplat. Means that sales will spread over several platforms. Davey boy is just upset that Watch Dogs is a success despite the Mario Kart 8 hype. It is a shame when fans can’t give credit where it’s due. Ahh well. Lol.

          • Ducked

Well he is your typical fanboy. There can’t be anything good off of a Nintendo platform to him. It is funny to read is childish comments.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

            It’s never a dull moment.

          • nexxus6

Shouldn’t the same be said then about ZombiU sales? It’s sales were pretty good for a launch title, especially since “you can’t expect a huge majority on an install base to all buy the same game.”

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Not according to David. Otherwise, I agree. Not everyone is going to buy it. Killzone sold close to 2 million at this point, but not everyone who owns a PS4, is going to buy it. Just as I don’t expect every Xbox One owner to buy Halo 5. It would be silly to think that everyone would buy any one game. I also take into account, that we’re still early in the 8th gen.

          • David Trail

2 million is rubbish for an exclusive NSMBU sold 4 to 5 million.

          • Ducked

I never spoke against ZombiU sales.

          • D.M.T

Why mention Mario Kart 8 when this is about Ubisoft games? Seems to me like you’re obsessed with so called “Nintendo fanboys”.

          • Shaise

But the thing is, multiplat sales aren’t evenly sold on Wii U. The Wii U numbers are usually UNDER.

      • Magnus Eriksson

Wow, just wow… So, tell me about the bad sales of basically every Nintendo game on Wii U.

        • Daniel Gonzalez

He wont. That would go against his persona.

        • David Trail

          NSMBU
          Nintendo Land
          Wind Waker HD
          Wii Party U
          SM3DW

Have all sold well. What are you guys on?

          • Epicstuf

            Speed, Cocaine, Crack. Marjiauna etc.

          • matthew garcia

            I smoke weed lol

          • MasterChief2004

            suck, my, ballz, loser

          • Ducked

Nintendo Land was packaged in with the Wii U since launch. NSMBU and Wind Waker have been packaged in as well since the fall.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

If anything. His whole argument over PS4 and Wii U sales is irrelevant. As many games these days are getting the bundle treatment.

          • David Trail

Watch Dogs is on every consoles. It did very poorly in that respect.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Comparing a multiplatform game to an exclusive makes zero sense my friend. For a multiplatform game, and new IP at that, it sold a lot, and quite good. Not sure what equates to success, in your world. It’s easy to tell Davey that this is because it’s not on the Wii U. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have complaints about Watch Dogs.

          • David Trail

Yeah of course it doesn’t make sense. Nintendo exclusives sell more. That is why it does not makes sense to you Daniel.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

It matters little who sells more, David. All that matters is that they are profitable. Watch Dogs was profitable, and Mario kart 8 was profitable. Who sells more only seems to matter to you. See where I’m getting that, or does this still not make sense to you? I’m going to guess the latter. You are entitled to your opinion, but at the end of the day, it won’t change the reality of the situation my friend. That’s unfortunate for you, Davey. Regardless, have a good night.

          • David Trail

            Yes, like Watch Dogs lmao!

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Indeed, like Lego City UnderCover, Super Luigi U, Wind Waker, Mario Kart 8, New Super Mario Bros U, Zombi U,Skylanders. lmao!

Do I have to continue to show how little sense you make? Or are you going to continue your classic David Fail routine again? So far, it has been comical.

          • David Trail

Watch Dogs was on all consoles and pc. Epic fail.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Multiplatform or not, Davey, it doesn’t take away from it’s sales success. Only fail here is your poor understanding of success. Opinion is one thing, but delusions are another. I’m sure you’re smarter than that.

          • David Trail

It is on all consoles when Watch Dogs has sold 4 million on ps4 come and talk too me.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

So you have high standards then? Makes sense now. Come back and talk to me when Nintendo doesn’t have a 4 million in sales game that wasn’t bundled. Works both ways my friend. Bye now.

          • Ducked

David has a thing for killing brain cells doesn’t he?

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Just his own thank god. I can only imagine how he functions in the real world.

          • David Trail

Come back when a multi plats has sold 2 million on ps4 which also wasn’t bundled and come back when an exclusive has hit 4 to 5 million lol.

      • Shaise

Umm….You can’t possible be serious?????? 2 MILLION? THAT’S AN ABSOLUTELY FINE NUMBER TO EVEN OUT FROM 8 MILLION!!!!!!! That’s plenty of people who bought. The Wii U version would sell about something like probably 300k???? And that install base is 6 million.

    • abe

      child of light… thats it…

      • Orange Lada

The best analysis would be how Child of Light sold on each platform.

I bought it for the Wii U, and it is quite an enjoyable RPG.

  • gerb1977

They also had 0% sales sales from Atari 2600 and Commodore 64……where they released about the same number of games for the time period.

    • Quicksilver88

Why even list 3DS when they aren’t doing shit for it? EA and Ubi are both idiots where 3DS is concerned…..already ove 40mil units and not worth supporting?

      • SnappyJon

43+ million worldwide 3DS owners and it’s still not a large enough user base for ubisoft.

        Speaks volumes.

  • Ducked

Seriously just don’t make excuses for Ubisoft games not selling well on Wii U. There games just don’t have a big audience on Wii U. Besides Rayman, I doubt hardly many people buy Assassins Creed or Splinter Cell on Wii U.

As for 3DS games, that’s Ubisoft’s fault. I haven’t seen any Ubisoft games on the handheld since 2012, unless you count eShop titles.

If Wii U grows a bigger install base as expected, then it wouldn’t hurt to give the Wii U another try. But I can’t really blame them. Still I’d love a ZombiU sequel.

    • Yen

I think the fact that there was one game release for Wii U in the quarter is a valid excuse for why it had less than 1% of sales… Only this time of course.

      • Ducked

So ZombiU, Assassins Creed IV, Splinter Cell Blacklist, and Rayman legends shouldn’t add to the sales? I’m confused.

        • Yen

I said this time. As in the first column, Q1 2014/15. The only game release was Child of Light which was a multiplatform. Watch_Dogs got delayed as well. So I think at least this time it’s a good enough reason for why Wii U counted for none of the sales. Those other games were released last year and yea there’s no arguing that one. There’s not a big audience for Assassin’s Creed or Splinter Cell on Wii U. Even then there’s a reason, Wii never got any Assassin’s Creed, so naturally everyone that wanted the new ones would get it on the system they played the earlier games on. Zombii U didn’t do well for Ubi in sales but it still sold pretty well for a launch console.

    • Hikingguy

The Nintendo audience is not the same as the others. Ubisoft (and other 3rd party companies) need to figure out what games Nintendo Fans want and sell those games. I bet Activision is very happy with Skylanders and I bet Capcom is happy with Monster Hunter.

      • Jonathan Robitaille

very well said. Wii U fans rewarded Ubi with good sales for ZombiU. They would have done so with Rayman Legends if it hadn’t been taken away. People reward exclusivity because it is something only they can get. They really screwed up with Rayman. Although there are a few…I have to agree that Nintendo gamers don’t buy the AC, Splinter Cell, Watchdogs, COD type of games. Stop trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Make Rayman exclusive, make a new exclusive IP that appeals to Nintendo fans..and sales will follow. But the games have to be good with polish, it is what we demand and we reward devs/publishers that deliver.

        • Hikingguy

I agree 100%. Rayman would have sold 100 times better if they would have just released it when they originally said they were. I had money in hand at the time.
Nintendo owners are a different breed. They want a different experience. Maybe Nintendo is in a challenging marketing position at the moment. They have the nostalgia gamer of the nes days and they have the young gamer who’s parents are not likely to buy them COD or Watch Dogs.
If I was a 3rd party I would do a little research and find a game that will sell to the Nintendo audience. Rayman could have been that game, IMO.

        • Hikingguy

Maybe Nintendo typically spoils their customers with very polished games. People will buy quality games.

    • Jonathan Robitaille

exactly. ZombiU was well done (could have been more polished) and sold well. AC3 and AC4 were pretty much PS360 ports with no real use of the gamepad. Wathdogs delayed. Rayman Legends delayed and exclusivity taken away but still sold best per install base on the Wii U, Child of Light only 720p on the Wii U, Splinter Cell late/gimped, some weak ass shovelware. Honestly their support is abysmal and Nintendo fans tend to have high standards and they can’t meet them. When they do make a good game, it gets purchased. There are zero excuses why they haven’t supported the 3ds. Let’s face it, Ubi is as bad as EA maybe worse now.

  • Dáibhí wotshissurname

It should also be noted that Ubisoft have barly relesed any, if not no 3DS games lately.

Ubisoft, if I can’t get their game on the Wii U or they give us an inferior copy of a multiplat game, I just buy it USED at Gamestop for the PS3. All games for the Wii U, I buy new. I support the developers/publishers that support the console (Wii U). Money talks…

    • abe

it’s its missing stuff i buy it new but only when its on sale below the % of cut content. that way they do know we want their games but wont pay for bollocks

      • Des

That’s not a bad idea. I’ve held off on buying Assassins Creed 3 & 4 because I got bored of the series. I didn’t get Zombie U because I couldn’t get into some aspects of the demo. But now that they’re cheaper, I may pick them up (NEW) and at the lower price. You’re right, they’ll be counted in their stats. Also, wait until all those folks who bought the Wii U for Mario Kart 8 or will pick one up after Super Smash Bro’s debuts, those numbers will start going up across the board.

        • abe

Ac 3 nearly killed me with it dullness but loved ac4, Wii u gamepad map made it a crap tone easier to navigate.

I really enjoyed ZombiU but I can only recomend it to people who liked the old school resident evil/silent hill/parasite eve games

          • YogiGRB

all true, but the gamepad useabilaty in AC3 was way beter and lots of more ease in usage

  • figs28

So Vita and 3DS are dead for Ubisoft as well? I guess just Wii U because it’s the cool thing

  • Hikingguy

    To Ubisoft,
Make games that Nintendo fans want to buy.
    Thanks,
    Wii U owner.

    • Hikingguy

      p.s.
Ryaman Legends would have sold well on the Wii U if you would have just released it when it was originally scheduled.

  • lonewolf

Hmm they should have shown which games these numbers are from.

  • Magnus Eriksson

No one blames you for not supporting Wii U anymore Ubi. You gave Nintendo more chances than everyone else. More than they did deserve. Thanks for your overwhelming support! Maybe Nintendo will learn their lesson now…

    • Hikingguy

Could be true. What did Ubisoft do wrong that Wii U owners did not buy their product? Or what could have they done better?
Or what could have Nintendo done better?

      • Magnus Eriksson

The reason is mainly Nintendos low attach rate. It sold basically nothing after march 2012. Zombi U sold probably quite ok compared to its userbase. However Nintendo did little to drive sales of their console, making Ubi and others responsible for driving its sales. Why do you think they delayed Rayman and decided to go multiplat? Nintendo shouldnt have viewed Rayman as a game making it more profitable to release, say SM3DW down the line. Instead they should have released SM3DW early to help making third party titles such as Rayman most possibly profitable. We know they didnt do this, thats why they lost third party support. This is EXCACTLY what EA meant when they said they didnt found any business drive to dev for Nintendo. This is whats meant when third parties called Wii U a fish dead in the water.

People are celebrating Nintendo at this E3. Me too thought it was great. But they should have done this at an earlier stage. Now its too late, and Nintendo are the only ones to blame.

        • Hikingguy

I believe Nintendo thought that sales would continue where they left off from the Wii with very little help necessary from them. Nintendo greatly overestimated the knowledge of the “average” non-gamer when they tried to moving to the next generation console. Also I think Nintendo underestimated so many aspects of the Wii U. Then when thing did not go as planned, Nintendo lost their way and had a hard time recovering.
I really think Nintendo did not know the direction they wanted to take the Wii U after the first plan failed. 3rd Parties saw this and jumped ship. It took them months to refocus. And this lost Nintendo precious time when the other systems were about to be launched. If you are going to be the 1st then you better be the best, at something.
But I think Nintendo finally found their direction but they are now playing catch up. It is forcing them to “give away” more than they normally would. But it is also helping them refocus on quality for the future. I think Nintendo will be stronger because of this and the customers will benefit in the long run.
I hope that is. Maybe I should buy some stock if my bright future plays out :-)

    • Epicstuf

It wasn’t Nintendo’s fault. It was the consumer’s fault. They would rather get it for PS3 and Xbox 360 rather than Wii U.

      • Jonathan Robitaille

        he’s trolling

        • darkcreap

No, I think he is being critical, and I agree with him. I agree that Ubisoft didn’t do everything OK, but I also think that they didn’t do more because they didn’t get good sales for many of their titles. People do not usually buy third party on Nintendo Systems. I do buy a lot, but I am afraid I am an exception rather than the rule.

          • Rinslowe

I like to think I buy exclusive content. When it’s worthwhile. So count me in that category as well…
As I have my fair share of non Nintendo exclusives on Wii U right now…
            And a few multiplats.

        • Magnus Eriksson

          no

      • MasterChief2004

        ur fault

        suck my ballz

      • Magnus Eriksson

Lol, in this biz you can never blame the consumers. Nintendo are the only ones responsible for giving their own console a drive. They tried to get third parties to make this work for them for free, and they lost. Nintendo held back titles on purpose to make more mony out of each game, and the consequence was a console with long draughts. They wanted third parties to sacrifize themselves, and that didnt happen.

Wii U should have been released with Mario 3D World title and Mario Kart 8. Pikmin and Wind Waker should have comed along the line, but not in launch. This would have generated fewer sales per game, but way more consoles. Then they would have had mor third parties on board.

But Nintendo had a different strategy, releasing less costly products that was supposed to drive sales with a lot of third parties. That is kind of a tricky thing to do, treating others as shit. Sorry to say it, but Nintendo have never disappointed as much as they have done this generation. Because they could have done things very different.

        Consider this:
Continuous delays of 1st party titles to generate most money per title.
        – Who is hurt? – The consumer
Trickling out their own classics on Virtual console to make most money.
        – Who is hurt? The consumer.
Having a policy that they will sit and wait until the console is worth developing for.
        – Who is hurt? – The consumer

Its always the consumer that has to drive profitability, and never Nintendo taking any risks by paying 3rd parties for exclusives or pushing out their own best titles in the beginning to make their own product attractive.

This was not how they made success with the NES. This is a policy that has more to do with economics than a wish to be the best in this business. Its capitalism not integrity.

        • Rinslowe

I don’t think they delayed titles to make more money. I think they just released their console too early. The only title that was delayed after having been finished from Nintendo’s IP was DKCTF. And that was obviously done more so for that titles benefit than anything else. Still, second week of Jan would have been the better option.
Actually, Mario Kart 8 was purposefully delayed as well I’d wager. But that wasn’t so much to maximise revenue as much as it was to disrupt any momentum the competition had cooking up for E3. And to give their E3 presence a bit more weight. Which as it turned out, was an intelligent strategy well played.
The third party issue happened, not because Nintendo screwed them this generation in any way premeditated. It was another follow on effect caused by releasing the Wii U too early. Not being ready to launch with the “right” first party titles. And for brokering less than intelligent deals for old ports as a fill in.
Ask yourself this. Do you really believe third party companies went into the launch “not” knowing what Nintendo was releasing themselves?
They signed off on their ports because they too thought it would be beneficial to have a presence on Wii U “at launch” where Nintendo did not.
They thought they could carve out a head start on the platform manufacturer and hopefully a user base. But they stuffed that opportunity up all on their own. And that’s a fact. Firstly, no-one tied their arm on the type of ports they could release. They chose to spend the least amount of time and energy to optimise their ports, even before the platform had a chance to prove itself. Fact. Most launch ports had performance issues that for more powerful hardware, should not have been present. We can now see by titles out by “some” other third parties, but mostly Nintendo’s own, that Wii U has the ability to run those titles when the game is “optimised”. The gaming communities on the Wii U called them out on that front and exposed a lack out genuine effort in “many” cases – not all granted – but many cases that could have been done better. Again, even before the platform had it’s chance to foster a following for those companies. They did that to themselves. We also know that the E-shop allows companies to set their own relative price levels based on a standard set by Nintendo. So why should I pay up to 20$ more for Splinter Cell Blacklist for eg,; when the game is shipped missing features, has performance stability issues and is generally buggy???
Did Nintendo force Ubisofts hand on that matter? Nope.
I’m not going all fanboy crusader here. But pointing the finger at just Nintendo for the Wii U’s woes is unrealistic. But, it is certainly Nintendo’s issue to fix – alone.
I honestly think you’re consistently stuck in the NES era that no longer applies. The Wii was open to dev’s, despite it’s differences to make cheap but compelling exclusives. Instead because of market insecurities it got more shovelware and crappy ports…

    • darkcreap

Yep, I don’t blame them. I bought a lot of their games: ZombiU pack, Rayman, AC3, AC4 and some AC3 DLC. I also bought Darksiders II, TW101 (if you consider that third party), Lego City and Call of Duty Ghosts. Also The Cave, Trine 2, Nano Asault, Toki Tori 2, Unepic and some other downloadable titles I don’t remember right now. Also some non-Nintendo VC titles. I haven’t bought Child of Light yet because I have many unfinished games that I want to finish before.

I buy third party on the WiiU because I want to support the WiiU as a reference console more than a “second system”. The problem is that the average WiiU owner does not buy other thing than Nintendo games. Not surprising third parties run away from the WiiU.

Third parties are key to a healthy varied library. At least Nintendo is trying some collaborations like Fatal Frame, Devil’s Third, Hyrule Warriors and Bayonetta. I honestly hope that they try a little bit to make their fans pay more attention to third parties, because otherwise Nintendo could become a niche console maker, if they are not already. Even with exclusives they don’t get their fans to buy certain games. It’s so desperating to see the low numbers on the eShop for some third party jewels. It is so unfair. The average Nintendo fan could be a little bit more open minded.

  • MerryBlind .

Ubisoft could be such an amazing company, but because of bad/greedy heads, it’s just ‘good’.

  • Chase U

I feel like Ubisoft only has a FEW games out for Wii U.. Doesn’t that explain their poor sales on Wii U? If they released more games for the U then they probably wouldn’t have this problem of not selling enough on the platform. Just seems like common sense. There are just as many Wii U’s out there as Xbox One and Playstation 4’s so what’s the problem?

What are these st@%# saying !! Ubisoft is not abandoning Nintendo, it’s us who abandoned ubisoft long ago. They just realized that ??

    • Decker Shado

How do we abandon someone who’s not there?

Is this kind of like how Watch_Dogs sold worst on Wii U? Nevermind that’s because they didn’t bother to release it.. it sold worse, period. Right?

  • Red Eye

Please sign this pettion to get Ea to bring fifa 15 on wii u U https://www.change.org/petitions/ea-fifa-release-the-upcoming-fifa-15-to-wii-u

    • Epicstuf

      No.

  • Will.F. Martinez

It used to be all about the games, now it’s all about the money. To much has changed.

  • 00EpicGamer00

It’s kind of sad almost everyone in the comment section thinks Ubisoft is greedy, or it’s Ubiosft’s fault that this happened. When, in reality, it’s not Ubisoft’s fault. It’s our fault. Let me ask you people this. How many of you actually bought both Assassin’s Creed games, Rayman Legends, and any other Ubiosft game on the Wii U, or at all? I’m hoping a majority of you have, but there’s probably more people that didn’t than did. All of you keep saying “bring us good 3rd party games, and we’ll buy them.” Ubisoft listened and gave us Rayman, Assassin’s Creed, Splinter Cell, a brand new IP called Zombi U, but guess what? Nobody bought them! I feel like I’m the only person on this planet that actually bought most of their games (on launch day, too).

*sigh* oh well. I’m glad Ubiosft gave us allot of good games. It was nice while it lasted. I hope Ubisoft comes back one day.

    • Daniel Gonzalez

      Prepare to get attacked. Lol.

      • Epicstuf

        NIPPLE ATTACKED! LOL.

      • 00EpicGamer00

I know. It’s just how I feel, though. It’s stupid to blame Ubisoft, when it’s the costumers fault for not buying it.

        • ScrewAttack

And why didn’t they buy it? Because they don’t like it. It’s not the customer’s fault that Ubi/EA/insert third party here put out stuff they don’t like. Your fanboy is showing.

          • Epicstuf

JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP! JESUS!

          • MasterChief2004

            start lickin

            my ballz are waiting

          • 00EpicGamer00

Actually, it IS the costumers fault. Again, it isn’t Ubiosft’s fault that Nintendo only gamers don’t like Ubisoft’s games. Your asshole is showing.

          • Jonathan Robitaille

holy shit you are a fucking douche today huh?

          • 00EpicGamer00

Okay? Did you not get the memo? We already solved this. We’re….”friends” now. So, could you please stop contributing to a war that’s already passed? Thank you.

          • Jonathan Robitaille

lol, I was not responding to you…I have no idea why this was here. I was trying to respond to the guy and his ‘suck my balls’ comments all over. My apologies ha ha

          • 00EpicGamer00

            Oh okay. No worries.

        • Hikingguy

You really can’t put all the blame on the customers. If the product was what the customer wanted then that product would have sold.
But obviously the majority of the customers did not want the product.

          • 00EpicGamer00

No offense, but it’s not Ubisoft’s fault that Nintendo only gamers don’t like their games. Why do you think they’ve stopped making games for the Wii U?

          • Hikingguy

            There is no offense taken.
Then who’s fault is it? The customers? That is just silly. I am not alive to make sure that Ubisoft makes games. Nor will I pay money for a game that I don’t want to play. No matter what system it is on.
If I make a t-shirt and market it to people older than 75 years old and it says Pokemon on it, do you think it is going sell well? I would bet it sits on the shelf. Is it the customers fault that I have a product that they don’t want?
Ubisoft is a large company that makes video games. They have very talented people that make games. I would hope they could make a game that Nintendo owners want to play. I bet child of light sold well on Nintendo

          • 00EpicGamer00

Yeah, I see what you mean now. I say it is more of a 50/50 thing. If Ubisoft makes a crappy game, and no one buys it, it’s Ubisoft’s fault then. If Ubisoft makes an amazing, a “must have” sort of game, and no one buys it, it’s the costumers fault (and Ubisoft for not advertising it enough).

          • Hikingguy

I would be surprised if Child of Light did not sell well.
I just believe that the majority of Nintendo owners are a different breed of gamers than others. They are looking for a different type of experience than what is typically released on other systems.
I don’t have all the answers, I am just talking as an owner of a Wii U and I really have very little interest in Watch Dogs or Splinter Cell, even though they might be very good games.
At this point I am not totally sure what kind of games I want to play. I might be going through a game funk right now.

          • Hikingguy

I think Nintendo is in a very strange position with their customers at the moment. On one hand they have the nostalgia gamer with people who grew up with the NES (I bet Shovel Knight will sell very well) and they also have young gamers who’s parents most likely won’t be buying them Assassin Creed, if you know what I mean. So I think they are in a tough position to market to all people.

          • Jonathan Robitaille

yes, but imho only Rayman Legends is that must have top quality Nintendo level polished game they have delivered. And although it has sold okay comparatively on the Wii U…it could have sold so much better if it remained a Wii U exclusive (because I think Nintendo fanboys are snobs and we were desperate for games Spring 2013) but we really will never know for sure. Just a hunch. But at it’s price now it’s a screaming buy.

          • Jonathan Robitaille

I doubt it did. It was gimped to 720p because they really couldn’t be bothered. I mean, really…a seemingly easy enough game like that and they just didn’t care enough. For that reason alone I didn’t buy it.

        • Jonathan Robitaille

yeah, because we should all waster our money on games that are sub standard and don’t appeal to us. Makes perfect sense

          • 00EpicGamer00

Don’t you mean sub standard that doesn’t appeal to YOU? You can’t speak for everyone else. Also, you completely missed the point. There’s people here complaining about Ubisoft, demanding them for more games, when they don’t even buy the games that are already out. That’s the point I was trying to make.

          • Jonathan Robitaille

I have no idea why people are complaining about not getting more games from them. If the quality is so low, and the games are gimped or late, why care? Personally I am enjoying ZombiU and Rayman but maybe that’s because they were built specifically for the Wii U and more care was given. So i hope another Rayman and a ZombiU sequel comes to the Wii U. But if not, I won’t be heartbroken. I would have liked Valient Hearts too but the rest of their library does not appeal to me. I only complain about their hypocrisy and backwards thinking.

        • Daniel Gonzalez

          Couldn’t agree more.

    • Chase U

I sure didn’t because I’ve never been “into” games like the ones they make.. All I’m saying is that how do they expect to make money on the Wii U if they only have a few releases for it? Ubisoft just sounds like a bunch of greedy idiots..

      • Epicstuf

Well, they are not. Ubisoft is being rushed by fans. It’s the buyer’s fault Ubisoft isn’t succesful on the Wii U and 3DS.

      • 00EpicGamer00

Well then, I’m afraid you’re part of the problem then. If you didn’t buy their games, how do you expect Ubisoft to keep making them for the Wii U? I understand that Ubisoft’s games aren’t really your type of games, but my point still stands. It’s not really fair to sit there and complaign when you don’t even like their games. They released plenty of games. The only games that they didn’t release is Watch Dogs, but it’s still coming.

        • ScrewAttack

How is not liking their particular brand of manure being part of the problem? People have their own tastes.

          • 00EpicGamer00

You’re part of the problem, because you’re sitting here complaining about a company you don’t even like. You want Ubisoft to bring more games to the Wii U? Well, get off your butt and go buy some. I understand people have their own taste, but your part of the people complaining about Ubisoft “bring more games” when you don’t even like them. How does that make sense?

          • ScrewAttack

There we are again. Read the damn post kid, I specifically said I don’t CARE. I don’t give a shit if Ubisoft never comes back to Wii U, because they don’t release titles I’m interested in.

Is that clear enough for you? Bloody fanboy, READ what people post before replying. READ.

          • 00EpicGamer00

Seems like someone is getting a little testy. Perhaps you should go lie down. The internet, I’m afraid, isn’t for you.

        • Chase U

I’m not complaining dude. I could ALSO care less about Ubisoft or if they come back to Wii U or not because I DONT buy their games. My only point is that Ubisoft only has a FEW games on the Wii U, so how do they expect to sell their games? Especially since the Wii U isn’t particularly suited for a lot of other third parties. Nintendo makes their consoles for their exclusive games, that’s why their exclusives are always AMAZING! I actually bought a Wii U for the exclusives and the fact that their is a nice spacing between major releases puts ease on my wallet!

          • 00EpicGamer00

I agree with your point. I guess Ubisoft hasn’t released as many games as they should of. I too bought a Wii U for the exclusives. Honestly, anyone who buys a Nintendo console should focus on the exclusives. And third party games is just a “nice edition” to have. I just get tired of hearing “It’s Ubisoft’s fault!” “It’s Nintendo’s fault!” When people never thought that they were the “fault.” No hard feelings?

    • Epicstuf

The only reason why those games didn’t sell well was because people were more into the the other console versions than the Wii U.

    • ScrewAttack

You must’ve missed the adendum- bring us *good* third party games*. MGS, Fallout, battlefront, Alien Isolation, Tomb Raider, etc etc. The good games, not the yearly milker brands that got stale after the second game.

I mean, I enjoyed Zombi U and I still plan to Splinter Cell (despite it lacking the offline coop I was looking forward to and the textures being PS2 level. Yuck)

      * I notice you didn’t miss the adendum. Ass creed, good? Okay. Never been a Rayman fan so can’t comment on that.

      • Epicstuf

Beyond Good & Evil and PoP. Those games are the games that will jumpstart the Wii U and 3DS UBISOFT.

        • MasterChief2004

jumpstart ur mouth on my sack

          suck my ballz

      • 00EpicGamer00

Umm, that’s my opinion. I like Assassin’s Creed. Just because you don’t, that doesn’t make my point any less true. Again, like I told someone else, I’m afraid you’re part of the problem. If you don’t like Ubisoft’s games, than why are you sitting here complaining? For example, I don’t really like EA, but I’m not going sit here and complain about them. Why? Because it’s a waste of time.

        • ScrewAttack

Opinions can neither be true nor false, that’s a fact-thing.

Have you read any of my posts on the matter, or is your response pre-written? I’m not complaining about the future lack of Ubisoft titles, I said I really don’t care. No, I care about the lack of good third party games on Wii U, not pop culture shovelware.

Read the whole comment before replying, seriously.

          • 00EpicGamer00

Why are you commenting on this article then? This article is about Ubisoft. Not other 3rd party companys. Seems like you can’t stay on topic.

          • ScrewAttack

Says the one trying to change the topic. Because I can, will and there’s nothing you can do to stop me. If you bothered to read other people’s comments, you’d see people are talking about more than just Ubisoft’s complete apathy towards Wii U.

          • 00EpicGamer00

I’m not changing the topic, lol. I’m still talking about Ubisoft. You know, what this article is about.

    • Hikingguy

But what is obvious is that the vast majority of Nintendo owners don’t want those kinds of games. With the exception of Rayman, and I think that would have sold 10 times better if they would have released it when they originally scheduled it to be released.
Third parties needs to figure out what Nintendo fans want to buy and sell that. It is so obvious that Nintendo owners buy a Nintendo to play a different kind of game.
So it really is more of a 50/50 split blame. Ubisoft does not release games that Nintendo owners want to play, Nintendo owners don’t buy the games that Ubisoft releases.

      • Fiercedeitymelkor

So you’re saying nintendo gamers aren’t open to different games unless nintendo makes them?

        • Hikingguy

Nintendo owners do buy Nintendo made games, that is true. But that is not what I said. If that is what was implied, I apologize. I would bet that Activision is very happy with the sales of Skylanders on Nintendo products. What I am saying is that typically Nintendo owners buy a Nintendo to play a different kind of game than what you normally buy on other systems. I don’t make games for millions of people to buy so I don’t have all the answers, but if I was a big 3rd party company I would do some research and figure out what 6+ million potential buyers might want to play.

        • Jonathan Robitaille

how did you interpret that? He is saying…evidently Nintendo gamers enjoy a certain type of game and 3rd parties are not making them. That if they did, we’d buy them. Maybe more fantasy, 2d side scrollers, 3D adventures, whimsical characters, no gratuitous violence type games would appeal more. But not lazy shovelware.

          • Hikingguy

Yeah, more games like you just said. I couldn’t quite come up with the game types, but I think you nailed it.
I just pick up Ni No Kuni (I have not played it yet), but that game seems like it could fit in the Nintendo Universe. Some fun fantasy game would be nice. I want to go on an adventure. That is what gaming is about to me.
I am not a pacifist, but I just don’t need or want to see any excess violence. This world has enough. I understand why people like games like that, but I am not in the mood for those games.
I don’t mind death in games, but I don’t want a game about death. If that makes sense.

    • YogiGRB

I for one bought the ZombiU special edition WiiU, both the AC series, splinter cell and more. don’t like ubi doing this to us

    • Jonathan Robitaille

the only quality game they released on the Wii U were Rayman Legends and ZombiU. The AC games and SC were gimped straight PS360 ports. I’ve tried them all and currently own AC4, Rayman Legends, and ZombiU. I can’t even believe people can sit through that awful port that is AC4. I am actually selling it this evening. It seems to me that at least from reading what people say here…that many have purchased Ubi games. But the install base is low and this forum isn’t representative of all Wii U owners as apparently people just aren’t buying anything not ZombiU and Rayman

      • 00EpicGamer00

How was AC 4 or 3 bad? I’m just curious. I’ve never encountered any problems what so ever. The only thing is glitches and stuff, but that’s in every game.

        • Jonathan Robitaille

You throw AC4 in your Wii U and if you can’t see how poorly optimized it is you need glasses. The jaggies, blurriness, framerate drops. I suggest you compare it to PS4 and then you’d know. It’s actually worse than PS360 because all they did was port it over and didn’t try and fix the flaws for the Wii U whereas the PS360 is somewhat optimized. It’s glaring to me.

          • 00EpicGamer00

“If you can’t see how poorly optimized it is you need glasses”

I actually do wear glasses, lol. And yeah, I guess it is a little blurry, but it’s not really a problem, for me anyway. My eyes adjust to it.

        • greengecko007

Other than the occasional frame rate stutter, which lasts 1 or 2 seconds, I haven’t had any problems that make me say AC3 or 4 on the Wii U are bad ports. The graphics on both games are better than their last generation counterparts, with AC4 on the Wii U not looking as good as the Xbox One or PS4 versions, which seems perfectly reasonable to me.

  • Epicstuf

Well, Goddamit. Now there is a FUCKING COMMENT WAR! JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP!

    • ScrewAttack

      ……what are you, ten?

      • Epicstuf

        What are you? A dick?

        • 00EpicGamer00

He is, lol. I’m sorry for the comment war….I didn’t think it would cause this much of an explosion. O.O

          • Epicstuf

Bloody Twat. That’s what he/she is.

          • ScrewAttack

So yup, you’re about ten. Grow the fuck up.

          • Epicstuf

Wow. We have a troll here!

          • ScrewAttack

Do you know what a troll is? Clearly not.

          • Epicstuf

In Internet slang, a troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people,[1] by posting inflammatory,[2] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[3] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discusison.
            Yes I do, wanker.

          • ScrewAttack

Congrats, you can quote the internet. Now, how is my having a differing opinion to EpicGamer that we happened to be having a discussion over trolling? It might be considered inflammatory, if you were a big baby that didn’t like having their opinions challenged.

In fact, I think I’d call you a troll for outwardly insulting another member of the site with little reason. If people at a party are talkiing about something you’re not interested in, do you run up to them and scream STFU?

          • Epicstuf

Still, that doesn’t change the fact you are a troll.

          • MasterChief2004

ballz – what epistuf sucks because i own him

          • MasterChief2004

            suck muh ballz loser

          • ScrewAttack

Look out, I have a different opinion! Must be a total wanker obvs!

          • 00EpicGamer00

It’s fine to have a different opinion. But you’re acting pretty immature about it. Why all the rage?

          • ScrewAttack

What rage? What immaturity? Because I disagree that not wanting to buy the majority of Ubisoft stuff makes me a problem? That’s immature on your side, blame everyone but your beloved Ubisoft. You should be more careful of your phrasing.

If it’s because of how I responded to Epicstuf, well, he started it. I don’t like being insulted , especially by trolls like him.

          • Epicstuf
          • ScrewAttack

I can’t believe it took you twenty minutes to discover you could copy & paste meme gifs into the comments section. Is this your first day on the internet?

          • Epicstuf

Is this your first day in a mental instution? Mr. ScrewAttack?

          • ScrewAttack

That was too funny a response, lol I’m blank. Hold on a sec.

…so you’re saying Wii U Daily is a mental institution? Does that mean you’re nuts too? That’d explain a few things.

          • Epicstuf

No. You are a retard. Why?
            1) Your smart ass comments that set everyone off.

            2) You coming to this website is useless, shouldn’t you be at ScrewAttack?
            3) You are a troll.
            4) Much Dickish moves
            5)You are not Opmtimus Prime
6)You go Off topic, a lot.
            7) You are absent-minded
8)You clearly are a person that feeds from grief
9)You are sad that you were born.

          • ScrewAttack

Considering how long that took you, I was expecting so much more.

            1) Look around bud, you’re the only one going for my throat in here.
            2) You’re coming to this site is useless, since all you do is bitch, moan and troll. Why would I go to ScrewAttack? The username’s because I love Metroid.
            3) Takes one to know one ;)
            4) Muchos maracas!
            5) Some small amount of faith restored in kids of today that you know who it is, but no I know that. It happens to be my favourite display piece. At least, until I get that badass Lego Ecto-1 set. If I can find it for less than £40. But I digress.
            6) Considering you bounce from topic to topic like you’ve ADHD, it’s not surprising. Not much point me replying to you and talking about something from the post before the one I’m replying to is there?
            7) A little. It comes with being a bit of a genius. Not a bad thing though! Means I’m fairly good at putting up with the shit people like you hurl around on sites like this :)
            8) Not really. I like having nice discussions with people about things we enjoy, but you’re clearly not interested in that so why bother trying to get through to you any more? Have a flick at the rest of the comments on here, serious.
            9) Hardly! Age of technology, comfortable living, the best dog ever and a great family. Pretty set here buddy.

Come on little man, With trolling like this, you won’t make it to the big time!

          • Epicstuf

I will get off the computer and go to my GF. Bye. You should get off the computer, too.

          • ScrewAttack

Have fun :) Ah I’m playing World of Tanks on xbox 360, have been this entire time.

But serious, have a good un. That was fun for a bit.

        • ScrewAttack

No, but childish outbursts because people are having a discussion you’re not interested in is kinda dickish. You don’t have to read the posts you know.

          • Epicstuf

No, but you just pulled a dickish move.

          • ScrewAttack

What, responding with surprise because you’re throwing a tantrum? Step away from the computer and take a deep breath, jeez.

          • Epicstuf

If I were having a tantrum, I would be in a mental institute.

          • ScrewAttack

Just a bump since you must’ve missed that this retort is unfinished.

The Wii U hasn’t had any games from ubisoft this year so it’s pretty irrelevant.

  • Kiefer Wickham

You can’t just abandon a console because it doesn’t contribute much if you didn’t release any games for it, fucking morons

  • bistricky

Who doesn’t have an Ubisoft game in their Wii U library?

Who has many Ubisoft games in their Wii U library?

I have almost all of them (except for the Just Dance series).

In the past, there were those who question Ubisoft’s claims that Wii U titles have sold terribly ………….
    Cheers :D

    • ScrewAttack

Just Zombi U and Splinter Cell here. Both great games, but nothing else they do particularly interests me. Was a nice surprise with the latter (disregarding shoddy graphics), being my first SC title. More stealthy than I was expecting, muchos fun, though I wish there were more of those sandbox-style side infiltration/kill missions, honestly think they’re the best part of the game.

  • Fiercedeitymelkor

Will ubisoft even bother with watch dogs on wii u at this point? I tend to think no. Not that it’s a huge loss, the game wasn’t all that great.

    • Chase U

It’s already said to be released for Wii U this fall.

      • Fiercedeitymelkor

Yes I know, but that could easily change. It won’t do well at all if it does come out.

        • Chase U

How do you know that? Where’s your source? It’ll be the only Ubisoft game I buy..

    • Decker Shado

Well, no matter what they’ll end up selling much less on the Wii U than they would have, had they released it on time.

Assuming the Wii U version was going to seriously under-perform, and sell.. let’s just call it.. 100% unit potential. How many of those potential sales ended up going to PS3/4, Xbox 360/One? Let’s say half. So that’s now 50% potential sales, for a 6m install base. Now, with how long it takes to release, despite the install base increasing.. let’s say it goes up 2X by some dark magic, to 12m. That brings us back to the prior potential, but it’s still not that simple.

Even under such a beneficial opportunity, deals and sales will be going on.. Steam sales for instance, which will eat at least another 20% base potential, bringing potential vs launch down to around 60%. Even doubling the Wii U’s install base, potential sales are down 40% just because of the delay – now, what price point will the Wii U version launch at?

$60 is a sure bet. Now, here’s the real kicker… how much DLC will be included? What features will be inexplicably missing? Who, upon seeing it available for Wii U, will just search on Steam and find it for half price, or less, with all features intact?

If Ubi wanted the Wii U version to have the best sales possible, they should have released the game at the same time. The delay, no matter the excuse, has pretty much guaranteed the sales will never be what they could have been.

And if I hear anyone blaming Nintendo or the Gamers over Ubi’s head-up-the-ass business decisions…..

    • Jonathan Robitaille

no, they shouldn’t really. It won’t sell well. It doesn’t appeal to the majority of Wii U owners. It is so late that most people who were interested have already played it on PS360 or PS4/Xbone. It will just be another example Ubi can try and use to justify why they don’t make games for the Wii U. I think Wii U owners are pretty much over it and very few care. They aren’t getting quality from them so it won’t be a big loss

  • RecheDiazrivarola

ubisoft Distribuyo 8 millones de copias que no es lo mismo a que haya vendido 8 millones.

  • companyoflosers

i will not believe ubisoft is abandoning wii u until they announce it themselves. everyone should take the title of this article with a grain of salt seeing as how the author is not an insider in ubisoft and is basing this on their opinion. the current numbers may show poor wii u peformance for ubisoft but even they must see the possibility of an upswing in sales after alot of the games presented in e3 come out.

    • ScrewAttack

Well, with journalism you have to expect sensationalist headlines. It gets them da clickz.

    • Hikingguy

Companies follow the money. If Ubisoft can make a game that will sell to the Wii U audience they will release another game for sure. But I think they are finding that Nintendo owners expect certain qualities in their games (and that they don’t like it when they are told one thing and then something else happens, Rayman).
And also, Nintendo owners don’t just buy the newest game in a franchise because it was made.

  • Iflywright

It’s funny, after I read this article I read a review for Watch Dogs for the first time. I was really bummed, I’ve been looking forward to it and the Kotaku reviewer essentially tells me not to buy it. Yikes… That was one hell of a marketing campaign to get 8 million to buy a crappy product.
I got assassin’s creed black flag–fun game looks beautiful. Other than that, I am not really interested in what Ubisoft is offering on nintendo. Zombie U, I guess I ought to try that out–I’m not crazy about zombie games, but at least it was better received by the critics.

    • ScrewAttack

Zombi U is an awesome survival horror. Considering how cheap it should be now I do recommend picking it up. Only problem I have with it really, is that it does need a good few hours (imo) per session and you have to be totally alert and quick to act. Losing a character (and hence their skills) you’ve been working on for a while is a major bummer and can put you off playing for a bit.

      • Chase U

Not attacking anyone here.. just putting in my two cents. I bought Zombi U and I thought it was CRAP! Played it for a couple days and it was very uninteresting and boring. I returned it and bought CoD: Black Ops II.

        • ScrewAttack

That’s fair bud, horses for courses and all that. You really have to be into the genre to enjoy the game….not so sure BO2 was a good tradeoff though :p Zombies in BO1 is sooo much better.

      • Iflywright

Thanks for the opinion dude, although what you said about losing characters and my lackluster love for zombies, I’d rather pick up Mass Effect 3.

        • ScrewAttack

No problemo! The permadeath is both the worst and best part of the game. Really puts the fear back into it, knowing there’s no reloading a previous save point. But if it’s not your thing, definitely better off. I think there may be a demo on the eshop though?

  • FutureFox

Seems strange to create a second pair of sales data showing exactly the same thing from both periods. Couldn’t they’ve just put Q1 in parenthesis next to 3 Months or something?

  • Assassinated23

So they are abandoning the WiiU because they didn’t sell anything on the WiiU, because they didn’t release anything on WiiU.
News flash, if you don’t release games on a system, you won’t sell any games for that system!

Wii U vs PS4 exclusives. This is why third parties avoid Nintendo consoles. It has nothing to do with power. Third parties supported the PS1 and PS2 even though they were the weakest consoles.

  • janco tianno

Rayman Legends for Wii U sold much more than the PS4 and X1 version.
It was release before on Wii U.

Then they are releasing Watch Dogs for Wii U after 4 months…
Then they are going to say: “Oh my god, no one is buying that on Wii U”…

Maybe we could have on the website a survey to know if a Wii U owner has another console at home.

In my case I have a Wii (and Wii U), a PS3, and I’m still choosing between PS4 and X1.

  • Joecoo1

You guys don’t get it nintendo gamers don’t care for third parties, I have been buying third parties on Wii U forever like COD for example and I only play online to 2000-3000 people everyday

  • Joecoo1

Not only that Ubisoft games that ever came to Wii U never sold well like AC4,AC3,ZombieU,Rayman. I’m just saying. We are the only people who love third parties on this system

  • brian

True, but Wii U actually beats Vita, then. They never gonna make Vita games now?

    • Joecoo1

Who cares for Vita, I can see that a mile away not only that Wii U has decent games and third parties I just wish we can get more third parties like battlefield,Dying light,Destiny

  • Curtis Hofer

They hardly have any decent games on Wii U

    • David Trail

It actually is the console with the most appealing games imo but each to their own.

  • Capt. Smoker

Can’t say I’ll miss em, Rayman Legends was alright, but the fact they abandoned it as an exclusive rubbed me the wrong way, I just don’t think they make very good games, Rayman games are generally good, but haven’t played an Assassins creed that captivated me since Assassins creed 2, the Prince of Persia they did back in 2008 was fantastic, then they went back to old boring formula, I don’t care for Watchdogs, couldn’t give a stuff about rabbids, and Child of light was beautiful yet extremely boring after the first hour or so, so…. can’t say I’ll miss em, not one bit. :)

WAIT! what exactly did they release for nintendo that I should have
bought? Splinter cell was so freaking bug full that i had to put it
down, Rayman was delay and got bad press and fan reaction, pfffffff!
chances are they will hang themselves, nintendo will pick up sales and
as a result Ubisioft will miss out on the second largest install base platform.

  • Rinslowe

For Wii U, Nintendo’s only clear way ahead this late in the game is to continue increasing internal projects and to fund more exclusive third party titles. Games either saved from extinction or purpose built just for Wii U and it’s strengths. The sooner Nintendo and Wii U owners realise third parties aren’t coming back in force the better. Then we can collectively broadcast to Nintendo the same message. Hopefully they’re getting that. Again, if anyone in Nintendo believes third parties are coming back “this” generation, they’re kidding themselves. Really.
Like the Wii showed us last gen, even overwhelming no’s did not guarantee ports were made with the right amount of care and attention. And Devs are most likely even with better no’s not to port with parity on Wii U. As a Wii U owner also, I don’t want to be put in a position every time where to support the platform means investing in watered down ports. And they are plentiful on Wii U right now.
I would rather continue on as I have been recently with Nintendo’s hugely polished first party titles (And there’s some real winners in the pipeline..) and titles like Bayo 2, Hyrule Warriors and to a lesser degree for the moment Devils Third when they release. Games that cannot be found anywhere else.
If Nintendo can foster enough of those third party exclusives within the next 24 months. I think the Wii U will do alright for itself in terms of sales/ broad appeal etc…

  • HydePark1980

From a certain standpoint this is a big loss for Nintendo, having said that we as gamers need to be realistic here……Ubi Soft and many other third parties haven’t released anything jaw dropping in years. I hate to say it but sales don’t really give the whole truth when it comes to a lot of these third parties.

Most of the time gamers have to choose between a game that’s average vs another that’s below average, we’re really choosing the lesser of two evils here.

    • FutureFox

Or gamers are duped into thinking the newest ip is the golden child of next-gen gaming, only to discover it is indeed average *cough*atch_D*cough*ogs.

  • Jon

Well… if they actually gave the Wii U versions the same that it gives the rest, you might see those numbers might go up. They are kind of bringing this on them selves for the low Wii U sales. Yeah the other platforms will probably still be higher but the Wii U sales would be higher as well if they didn’t keep gimping them by removing/withhold content

  • Quicksilver88

I am thankful for the support Ubi has shown WiiU but man the have been all over the map. ZombieU did sell overl 500K at launch which for a new IP on a new system with a limited base that is solid…..now its over 800K….still against 6mil units thats not bad. Rayman sold better on WiiU than ps3/360 combined and would have done really well as the spring 2013 exclusive it was supposed to be. I bet the game Ubi has done but is holding is ZombieU-2. Child of Light was great digital game and WD is coming this year so atleast Ubi is still doing something.

    • Petri

No, they said the game they were holding was for friends and families.
Yeah…party game… third party party games did so well on a Wii with 100M consoles sold.

  • Emu

If you don’t make any games for Wii U you don’t need to be surprised that you don’t sell any Wii U games. How’s that proof that they should abandon Wii U?

  • fireheartis1

I don’t get how Ubisoft can say that the Wii U doesn’t make them any money because it only had 3% of sales. This is stupid if they only released on game on Wii U this year. What kind of stupid logic is that from a company who usually makes great exclusive games for Nintendo’s systems?

  • ENDOT123

the numbers don’t make sense…. how many games did they even release on WiiU?

  • Segaman

I question why Ashley King didn’t point this out, as well as any of you. First let me say Ubisoft, obviously, can do what they want, but there is something that TRULY doesn’t jive here. That is Ubisoft’s continued support of Vitta over WiiU. Regardless if vgchartz.com’s sales numbers are right or not, let’s say they are ballpark. They have Vita at 8.5 million units sold and WiiU at 6.5. The Vita was 8 months before the WiiU was, however, according to this chart the WiiU STILL managed 1% more in sales!!!!! Now unless Ubisoft has stopped supporting the Vita and I missed it, they are full of crap! Regardless, their pulling support bothers me, they likely will always get my Rayman money. I will say, though, people need to start purchasing 3rd party games.

    • Petri

I usually buy every third party game for Wii U.
But lately (if ever) there has been no reason to get the games for Wii U, if you had other platforms.
And games that you should get, you most probably already played last generation.
Though I can not think any third party game, that is coming with incentive to get for Wii U.
And latest third party game, that is OK, is that One Piece game.

      • Segaman

I sympathize. I do, however, regardless if you are correct it doea not bode well for WiiU. I am a sentimentalist. I love Nintendo not only for their exceptionally high quality first-party titles, but why…why? They are the last true pure game company producing hardware since Sega bowed out. They are a company who looked for another revenue stream. Sony was an electronics company, Microsoft a software company that decided to add a video game division. That all Nintendo is…it’s their craft. They give all their heart and soul to it. You don’t continually produce impeccable games without a love for the craft that goes beyond money. Call it silly, try to justify that Sony or Micrisoft are this or that, I simply love Nintendo and their heritage so will I perhaps buy a slightly lessor product to support Nintendo…yes. That’s just me. I understand you might think that is stupid, but that’s ok. Maybe I am. I don’t hold it against you for not feeling the same.

        • Petri

I’m just waiting for Bayonetta 2.
Hyrule Warriors will be nice to have at September, but from here to between, there is no interesting games coming.

I never really cared about Nintendo games since NES,
the games are good, but nothing I could not live without.
New Super Mario Bros U was the first Nintendo home console first party game I’ve had since 20 years, and I owned the Gamecube.
Funny how I still considered Gamecube to be the best home console I’ve had (Wii U is on its way to claim that title), with only Nintendo IP I had being Eternal Darkness, and back then I didn’t even know it was Nintendo IP.
But I can concur, their games are the best quality in gaming.
And seeing what Sony and Microsoft had to offer last generation, I don’t really see them topping that with this generation.
So now I’m giving Nintendo a chance, especially since they rescued Bayonetta from development limbo.
Really looking forward to Splatoon, and some other games coming out next year.

          • Segaman

I want to add, and this should make me more credible, I own practically every system – except Xbox 1 and PS4 simply don’t have the money. I have a love of video games across the board, but Nintendo is without equal.
Now I HAVE to say, if you like New Super Mario Bros U, you simply have to try Super Mario Galaxy 1&2. They are beautiful and imoeccable! Even if you’ve played them a bit, with your newly refound love of Nintendo you must give them another look. Just pure Nintendo love!
Younger people in general don’t respect their elders or what came before so my effort to remind people of the greatness and the contributions of Nintendo will fall on mostly deaf ears. I’m not necessarily saying people have to not enjoy Sony or Microsoft. Yes, their new behemoth machines are marvels…all I wish is for people to acknowledge Nintendo’s greatness even if it isn’t their thing. I’m 42. 6’2” and plenty much a man, but I love the colorful, fantasy worlds Nintendo games offer. They certainly aren’t ‘kiddie’. I am quite confident many Mario games, particularlly those of the past, offer up quite a formidible challenge that many ‘adult’ games of today lack. But again, I know that is personal taste, what is much harder to deny is Nintendo’s second to none quality!

          • Petri

Would love to get some Wii titles, but I don’t really have the time to hunt them, nor enough to play everything I would want.
Maybe if they started selling Wii games on eShop, I might buy them.

I feel that gamers, who started gaming at PlayStation era, do not really appreciate gaming of wide variety.
But I hope those are only the vocal minority on the internet,
though the same games topping sales lists every year, makes me think otherwise.
I let my nephew, who is 14 I think, to try NSMBU, and he just could not grasp the concept of jumping on top of the enemy to kill it, or jumping over a bottomless pit.
And less than 10 minutes, he quit.

This console generation, I mean these so called powerhouses, was kind of a let down.
Last generation, if you wanted a PC, that could play the games that consoles did, you needed pretty deep pockets.
But now you could make a PC that does the same, if not better as PS4 and xbone, for 500-600$,
Wii U is great though,it has the ability to double my gaming time.
And the difference in power, is actually pretty small,
sure might have to leave some graphical gimmicks out of the game, but Wii U can run any game that is out or is coming out as of now, with proper optimization.

          • Segaman

I agree with you on every point. I really do. I doubt Wii games will ever make it to the eShop since the Wii U is backward compatible, but it could happen. I would love to start seeing Gamecube games at least. I think with the Gamecube controller adapter coming with Super Smash Brothers that could be a possibility.
I think your right. Playstation, Saturn and N64 or 3D gaming seemed to change the mindset of everyone especially younger, new gamers. I try to expose my boys to ALL the older systems so they at least know the beginnings. I know what you mean about your 14 year old nephew. My oldest is almost 14 and I have twin 8 year old sons, I watch them often struggle when playing 2D type platforming and tell them that they didn’t cut their teeth on NES Mario brothers!
You are absolutely right. The new machines aren’t quite the leap as last generation. I believe that each of the last couple ‘new’ generation of systems the jump has lessoned each time. Also computer hardware is less expensive these days in general. In spite the fact the 360 and PS3 were 9 and 8 years old respectively, I wasn’t feeling in need of new hardware! I still don’t really.
I have read that indeed the Wii U is more powerful than initially thought. I truly am interested in seeing Project Cars because it’s developers are saying the Wii U graphically is NOT that inferior and has promised a very strong showing on Wii U.

          • Segaman

Oh yeah, Bayonetta 2 looks simply amazing. The newest trailers are stunning to say the least!!

  • Adam Fox

Who’s fault is it? THEIR OWN!! It’s already been said they are sitting on games for the Wii U…..Watch Dogs for Wii U has been delayed…..the games they were making EXCLUSIVELY for the Wii U went multi-plat

  • http://facebook.com/validgraphics val berger

This headline is misleading and Ubisoft’s financials don’t show shit. Sure, we all know why they are abandoning WiiU, but this chart isn’t really showing that off.

  • Rick van der Linde

I had 0% sales on any system, gonna abandon them all.

  • james

The reason why only one game cam out for the Wii U recently is because Rayman and ZombieU both sold poorly on Wii U. I cant blame them at all for abandoning Wii U. I am not so sure WatchDogs will even release for it.

    • FutureFox

According to vgchartz Rayman did almost as well as the PS3 in terms of sales. Ubisoft just wanted to make more money. If it sold poorly (overall) maybe its simply not the kind of game most people want to own across any platform. Maybe Ubi knew this and opted to cover the spread rather than sinking it all in one console. These guys are looking at tent poles now and Rayman just doesn’t fit that bill.

Rayman did the best on Wii U.

Newsflash Ubisoft: You need to release games to make a profit

  • Petri

    So…
Is Ubisoft waiting that we forget Watch Dogs is still a game, or are they waiting that they can announce Watch Dogs 2 for other platforms except Wii U, and then hope that the Wii U version of Watch Dogs will still sell?

    • Segaman

Whatever their plan, it doesn’t seem very friendly to hardcore gamers AND not good for the casual because they are under the impression that Watch Dogs isn’t even heading to WiiU!!

  • Mike

Ubisoft has not dropped support for the wiiu this is a total LIE .
This website should know better then to post false news like this. When assassins creed unity gets announced soon your going to feel very stupid . I will make it my personal job to remind you.

    • Wilks

      Keep dreaming there.

      • Mike

No need to dream have you seen the wiiu sales in the past two months. The wiiu has out sold the Xbox one. Fact

        • Wilks

That’s over a course of 18+ months in comparison to xbox that’s only been available for less than a year and the WiiU is only like a million ahead of the xbox. Not that impressive. Point is, AC Unity won’t come to WiiU.

        • Mike

          That’s OK

  • ~OMEGA~

what games have they had come out in Q1?

we’ve been fucking waiting for watch dogs! all we’ve had to purchase was Child of light -__-

  • Segaman

Who agrees that at the very least in advertising for Watch Dogs they might add ‘Coming this fall to Wii U’ or ‘Coming 1st quarter 2015′ or something. Or do you think it would be worse to draw attention to the fact that Wii U is getting a delayed release? I personally would prefer at least an acknowledgement to a Wii U version. Ubisoft could spin things that they are taking extra time to maximize the touchscreen gamepad…even if that was complete bunk.

  • iamserious

Ubisoft needs to learn economics 101.

  • Rex_Dart

Ubisoft’s strategy: release nothing for Wii U and 3DS, then blame Nintendo fans for not buying anything for the Wii U and 3DS made by Ubisoft. Brilliant!

It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy here. They do nothing to support the systems, only to turn around and bitch about how nobody is buying the systems.

  • Mr_Dave79

hate to break it to you, but I would not be surprised if WatchDogs came out on Wii U this year missing something major like online play or DLC!! There seems to be a patter emerging with 3rd party games and the Wii U…

  • thedeciderU

they’ve made a ton of quality games, but some of the gameplay turns me off. rayman legends is incredible, and did not play col. not huge on rpgs.

  • NARDDAWG TGMTEL

    Ubisoft = shovelware,

  • Orange Lada

Well if they don’t release for my platform, I can’t buy. I did buy Child of Light btw, and it is a really great game!

  • allvalve

A developer who makes 1% or less revenue from the 3DS need to stop blaming everyone else and take a serious look at their strategy and content.
This completely flies in the face of their “when Wii U hits mass market argument”.
There’s no other console that is more “mass market” than the 3DS.

    • CydeFxt

Damn. Talk about the ugly truth.

  • CydeFxt

It’s a shame bc Ubisoft is turning more and more into EA and I love many of Ubisofts franchises. But with that, they’re also seeming more and more idiotic, just like EA.

But business is business, no matter how untrue some things are.

  • TrueWiiMaster

This report has nothing to do with why Ubisoft has been dropping the Wii U. The only game Ubisoft released on Nintendo’s systems in the last 8 months or so was Child of Light. Obviously if the games aren’t there, they can’t sell.

  • brian murphy

why would You expect wii u games to have large sales when you delay the damn games past the release of other platforms its just plain stupid your just setting yourself up for a loss and when it does come out the ones with xbox ones and ps4’s will already have it and only the small few who only have a wii u will buy one or over look it

  • Dying_in_this_Crap_World

Rayman cant sell even on a Nintoddler platform, wow.

    • Epicstuf

Wow, If you want to comment here and HATE on the Wii U, go play PS4 and Xbox One, fucktard.
