New Bayonetta 2 Wii U gameplay videos

New Bayonetta 2 Wii U gameplay videos

Bayonetta 2 is one of the more “hardcore” Wii U exclusives. The hack and slash sequel will be released in Japan on September 20, and a month later in Europe and North America. We’ve got some new gameplay footage from the game, including the opening prologue cut-scene.

While all three videos are pretty brief, they give us a good glimpse at the game, the gameplay, the visuals, as well as the soundtrack. And it looks like fans of the original Bayonetta will not be disappointed: the gameplay is just as fast-paced and intense as before.

Bayonetta 2 will include the original game as well, both in the retail and download versions. The game will get a massive 5-disc soundtrack as well, and finally, Funimation will bring a Bayonetta anime as well. Yep, we’ll be seeing plenty of Bayonetta this Fall.

Enjoy the new videos below. Be sure to also check out the Bayonetta 2 Wii U GamePad controls video for a look at how the game will utilize the GamePad controller.

Ugh, YouTube. B2 videos are hard to see what’s going on, with so much moving, and so much compression and artifacting.

I prefer the 60 fps clips on IGN.com , Platinum Games’ blog and Gamersyde.

We need to hype this up hard!

    • bistricky

I think Operation Platinum is a great ‘grass roots’ movement.

I appreciate that Wii U gamers have some sort of opportunity to rebuff the decision made by the big 3rd Party developers which have skipped making ‘mature’ games for the Wii U. I believe there are plenty of Wii U gamers who, in the future, will buy and support quality ‘mature’ games.
Operation Platinum focus is on ‘Bayonetta 2′, yet games such as “Devil’s Third” and dare I say “Watch Dogs” for the Wii U needs to sell (and could) 1 million units, to demonstrate why ‘mature’ themed franchises should return to the Wii U in 2015.

Heck, getting ZombiU to cross 1 million units could help assist the change Operation Platinum is striving for.
      :D

      • Rinslowe

I believe if the “movement” is more focused on “mature” titles on Wii U as you say “IF” those titles are worthwhile then definitely justified. But I for one, don’t really care for “mature” themed games just for the sake of the “return” of mature themed games. If third party companies return with their AAA multiplat franchises it’ll be because they view the platform as a viable revenue earner. However third parties need to realise that Nintendo platform owners have shown they will not support games that are missing features, DLC, online while being late or delayed and at a premium cost. Honestly, with such easy access to better versions, I think it is almost illogical to continue to support buying games on any system under such circumstances as mentioned above. If Nintendo brings or supports third party efforts to Wii U that is either exclusive or multiplat & on time with other platform versions, including all comparable features etc and marketed properly – but still does not sell well, then there are genuine concerns. So far I would wager a good 90% of ports have been approached by the average pessimist and the media “in a vacuum”. This is what makes Bayonetta 2 the right title to watch to see how it all turns out…

        • bistricky

As you know, I have envisioned months ago that ‘Bayonetta 2′ would be a big success and reach sales around 1 million units. Now, with this grass roots movement coined Operation Platinum, I foresee this 1 million target as more likely.
I enjoy all types of games …. including those games which have the stamp of ‘mature’ on them. Many of the multiplatform games that have been announced as skipping the Wii U, happens to have ‘mature’ content ….. to the extent of Ubisoft stating they won’t make ‘mature’ games for the Wii U anymore because Nintendo gamers don’t dig those type of games … which in turn, I would imagine is the reason why Operation Platinum was created. And kudos to the individual who started it.
I agree with your post … rarely do I not …. it is true …. and maybe I am jumping ahead but if the intent of this grass roots movement is to show that Wii U gamers will support ‘mature’ games, then Bayonetta 2 should only be the first of many games which can defuse this label that Wii U gamers don’t support such games. My thoughts are ‘what will it take’ to get 3rd party developers to make properly their games for the Wii U again?

        • Jon Turner

I agree wholeheartedly. That’s why BAYONETTA 2 HAS to be a success.

I am beating Bayonetta 1. A friend is letting me play it on his PS3. I think I will give him back the favour and let him play it on WiiU. Too bad it will not have collaborative multiplayer. It could have been interesting.

    • uPadWatcher

Actually, Bayonetta 2 and the enhanced HD WILL have 2-player co-op both local and online.

      • darkcreap

        Wait, what???? Sources?

        • Rinslowe

Not sure when it went all “Heil Hitler” around here for innocent little links to other gaming websites. Its not like we don’t all outsource our “real” gaming news in the weekends. Thanks to Kinsley that’s almost a given..
          o_O

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Uhm…….link deleted? Apparently I missed something.

          • Rinslowe

            How so?

          • Daniel Gonzalez

I was asking a question. Cause before I recall you leaving a link of some sort. Was it deleted?

          • Rinslowe

Ok, I was checking in what capacity you were aware of this new development. Yes, seems to have been deleted. And was nothing more than Siliconera explaining the online coop for Bayo 2..

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Ahh. Well hard to tell cause usually it would say your comment was deleted, but I guess that changed after the site’s facelift. Otherwise, I assumed perhaps you edited it. Either way, kinda odd to delete over a simple link to a source.

          • Rinslowe

I guess Wii U Daily is taking those comment counters a little too literally lol. They’ll likely always have regulars, opposing viewpoints and drama. Nothing to worry about…

          • Daniel Gonzalez

I think as long as they’re getting enough revenue from the site, they could care less what goes on regularly. Kinsley I imagine loves playing the bad guy during the weekends.

          • Rinslowe

Not sure what he’s playing with. But what he does in his own time is his business, lol. If he wants people to laugh at him, then he’s on the right track as a games journalist. He should just stick to silent partner.

  • Deion Powell

Lets make this sell 1 million units. #OperationPlatinum in full effect

    • FutureFox

Should make it interesting by stipulating if the goal isn’t reached then those who did buy the game have to do the Ice Bucket challenge.

      • Petri

Shuhei Yoshida would buy the remaining copies, he’s afraid of cold water.

  • FutureFox

    Good luck to #OperationPlatinum cohorts.

    • Rinslowe

Platinum certainly deserve it. And it might be too early to say, but I wouldn’t complain with a Bayonetta 3…

  • Rinslowe

If you own a Wii U and enjoy mature themed titles. Then Bayonetta 2 is likely to be the best value for money exclusive available. Not to mention, almost guaranteed to be a really good game. Day One…

    • Coffee

Because I need to pretend to be cool by playing m rated gamed

A game is a game whatever letter is slapped on a box

      • Rinslowe

No not for being cool. But cheers for placing a particular meaning on something that was neither insinuated nor implied. The internet is “context” challeged.

        Check this out buddy

“If you own a Wii U and enjoy mature themed titles”

        Pretty self explanatory huh…

        • Daniel Gonzalez

Not exactly sure why you’re trying to reason with coffee. It’s meant to be consumed and refreshing to the last drop. You’re losing it, Rinslowe.

          • Rinslowe

I always give the benefit of the doubt to first time potential trolls. I read your comment then looked at my morning coffee and smiled. Cheers Gonzalez. Could just be you’re gaining something…

          • uPadWatcher

            Nice try Gonzo.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

            I don’t follow. :P

          • uPadWatcher

            Yes you do, troll/ass kisser.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Can’t say I do, seeing as you don’t explain what you’re trying to say other than troll/ass kisser. That only tells me you’re upset over something very trivial. :P

  • Merry_Blind

    Can’t wait for these games!

  • Kwondhe

Oh, damn, I wish Bayonetta 2 even more than Hyrule Warriors. Luck that it’s not matter of pick one of them, so I’m saving money for both games =’)

  • tlopuse

    #OperationPlatinum add me too!!!!

  • Brandon

This game is one of the reasons im getting a wii u, but im still deciding whether to get a wii or xbox this black friday.

    • Merry_Blind

Well… if you know you’ll get both eventually anyway, I’d say start with the Wii U since it has wayyyyyyy more quality titles out right now compared to the 1 or 2 the Xbox One has. Personally, I don’t understand why people buy PS4s and X1s right now when they both have barely any good games to play.

      • 00EpicGamer00

I think it might be due to people wanting to play the “better” version of a 3rd party game. There is also some exclusives that are out for those systems that’d cause people to go and buy them. And there’s also the upcoming games. But I think the main reason is for “better” 3rd party games.

I personally want a PS4, but I’m being patient and waiting until the “time is right” so to speak. I’m not the type of person to (anymore) rush out and buy a console on the first day. As…I’ve learned my lesson and shall not ever do that again.

        • Merry_Blind

Yeah I guess that makes sense. I got a PC for that almost 2 years ago, so maybe that’s why I don’t see what’s so great about the PS4 and X1. These days I really only look at exclusives on consoles since I know the multiplatform games will be better on my PC anyway, and on that front, Nintendo is destroying the X1 and PS4.

          • 00EpicGamer00

Indeed. I think some people might not have the funds or “care” for a PC, so their next best thing is to get a Sony or Microsoft console. If someone has a PC, then I definitely understand why they don’t see the PS4 or X1 very…..”interesting.”

      • Brandon

I think i might the wii u first. This coming holiday theres alot of great looking games coming to ps4 and xbox one, so it would be a good time to for fans to upgrade. Im not much of a nintendo fan but, I want to get a wii u to change that.

        • Merry_Blind

Yeah that Halo Collection looks amazing. I feel like buying an X1 just for that, but I’ll try to resist for now, at least until there’s something else that interests me on the system.

As for the Wii U, my last Nintendo console was the N64 (though I got a SNES in between my Xbox Original and PS3), and coming back to Nintendo after all those years of playing gritty, ‘mature’, and dark games, it’s a breath of fresh air to play Mario and DK games again. It’s a great console. Just don’t buy it expecting other games than exclusive games.

          • Brandon

Oh of course, im mainly buying it as a secondary console to my ps4. Im mostly going to get first parties on it. As for the ps4 im getting my third and first party games, and I can play with my friends.

  • Kuhang Menyangbo

Bayonetta 2 is going to be epic !

  • Laurentiu

Should I buy Bayonetta 2 or Devil’s Third??? please tell me

    • Rinslowe

That is a deeply personal choice only you can answer…

      • Laurentiu

        Good reply! LOL

    • marloc_x

      Both in due time..

    • Petri

If I knew nothing but E3 trailers for either, I think I’d go with Bayo.
But releases for those are far between, so why not both?

    • ben

Bayonetta 2. Because Devil’s third does not even have a release date.

    #OperationPlatinum.
I’m not really interest in Bayonttea series that much but i will buy it to support Ninty, and yes, day-one for me ;).

    • uPadWatcher

      What about Platinum Games?

      • Divaitiie!

Meh … never fan of them. I bought Bayonttea I on my PS3 … didn’t like it that much. But my friend told me the PS3 ports was laggy so I played on my friend Xbox …. just freaking same to me :P.
        The combat is brilliant tho.

  • http://facebook.com/validgraphics val berger

    digital or retail? hmmmmm.

    • Petri

      Both.

  • Divaitiie!

I’m totally gonna buy it, but i’m Extremely doubt it will reach 1M or even near 1 Million …
200K in the U.S and 500K at very max if plausible.
    Same goes to Hyrule Warriors.

    • uPadWatcher

In this day and age… NEVER say never. You’ll never know when these games reach the same level that Mario Kart 8 have reached. It’s not wise to predict the number of copies on each game.

      • Divaitiie!

I’m just saying, since “Mature” games ain’t sell well in the Nintendo system at all … and it’s a fact! Just read Ubisoft CEO article and you will understand, only 3% of Ubisoft total revenue come from Wii U. That’s pretty damn low, i bet some companies even losing money when they port it to Wii U XD.

        • uPadWatcher

The reason why because 1) Ubisoft isn’t taking advantage of Nintendo’s hardware, 2) ACIV Black Flag is worst than ACIII, and 3) The French developer is following Electronic Arts’ footsteps.

          • Divaitiie!

            1. Oh yeah ? Do u working for Ubisoft by any chance or even better, Have you ever develop video games before ? If not then please, stop criticized the video games developers for something that you’re not even know for sure -__- …
            2. AC IV was actually pretty good imho. Metacritics and the game community rated at about 85 I believe, that’s a pretty good score ;)
            3. They’re still among the wealthiest game company in the world :P.

  • Epicstuf

    LOOKING GOOOOOOOOOOD!

  • Perico Palotes

NO, most “hardcore” (as difficult and complex) no, the wonderful 101 is the most hardcore game in the console and unless platinum games make another one like that i doubt there will be ever something else remotely “hardcore”.

Since when “hardcore” stopped meaning “difficult” to mean “18 pegi rated”?
Jesus Christ ps3/360 marketing departments, what have you done! you have created an entire generation of retards!

    • Merry_Blind

Yeah when it comes to videogames, hardcore should be about the gameplay, both in terms of skills and/or knowledge required to perform, not the theme. Wonderful 101 is hardcore. Dota 2 is hardcore. Devil May Cry is hardcore. Path of Exile is hardcore. I’d say Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze is hardcore too.

However, you do realize Bayonetta is made by the same developers as Wonderful 101? So if there is a game that has the potential to be more ‘hardcore’ than W101, it’s Bayonetta. I never played Bayonetta before, but I’ve read it puts to shame even genre-defining DMC games (not talking about DMC 2 or the DmC reboot here) when it comes to the combat-system, Bayonetta’s being basically an evolution of DMC’s.

  • Mizzah Tee

    #OperationPlatinum FOOS!

  • fireheartis1

I wish I could get this game, but sadly I’m paying off some school loans right now. Maybe I’m just going to have to trade in one or two games so I can afford it though. It looks pretty freaking amazing.

  • GregoryTheRainMaker

The hype I feel for Bayonetta 2 is through the freaking roof you guys!
