Dan Adelman was the point of contact for indies for several years before he left last year after Nintendo ordered a gag order on his tweets. Adelman has had nothing but good to say about his former employer, even while working on promoting Axiom Verge, a game that’s exclusive to PlayStation in terms of consoles. That could be changing soon, as Dan Adelman has spoken about his former co-workers reaching out to him with the possibility of bringing Axiom Verge to the Wii U.
They’ve been nothing but great. They’ve been congratulatory. I’m going to go out to lunch with a couple of my old coworkers sometime next week. They’d like to have it on a platform, so that’s something we want to work towards.
The biggest problem right now even if both parties agree to release the game on the system is that Axiom Verge uses MonoGame, an engine that’s never worked well on the Wii U or the Nintendo 3DS. If Axiom Verge is to make its way to the Wii U, it’s likely a studio that’s familiar with ports, like Curve Digital may have to step in and help.
Either way, Axiom Verge is a Metroid-like for the modern era and would make a fine addition to the Wii U. Check out the trailer below to see some of the gameplay.
