Bloodstained port devs will share Unreal 4 engine code with devs

The Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Kickstarter has surpassed the Wii U stretch goal set at $3 million, so studio Armature will be working on the port for Wii U owners. One of the interesting things to arise out of this information is that Armature has pledged to share the UE4 code with any Wii U developer. Here’s the pledge from Armature in the most recent Kickstarter update for the project.

Hi Bloodstained backers – Armature here with another update. It turns out that a people have shown a ton of interest in our plan to port UE4 to the WiiU and PS Vita. Since they’re not officially supported platforms, it’s going to be a lot of work to get Bloodstained and UE4 on these platforms, but we are up to the challenge.

“Since the community got these platforms off the ground, we figure that it’s best to let the community have them back when we’re done. As a result, after the release of Bloodstained we will share, for free, the UE4 WiiU and Vita code with any developer authorized to develop on those platforms! Thank you all very much for this opportunity!

It’s nice to see the developers are willing to share their hardwork not only with the Wii U development community, but also the PS Vita development community. Both the Wii U and the PS Vita have been considered something of a black sheep in terms of hardware, so this community-sharing of work could mean projects based in UE4 could more easily be ported to either platform.

If you haven’t backed Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night yet on Kickstarter, you’ve got just over two days left to do so.
