The Fatal Frame series has always had spotty localization but after the release of the latest game on Wii U, Nintendo seems to have acknowledged that there is a fanbase for the game in the West. Unfortunately, that fanbase will have to deal with a digital-only release, which is likely the only way Nintendo could afford to distribute the product.
Coming from a new press release, we’ve learned that you’ll be able to download the game and try the first and second chapters for free. If you want to continue the adventure, you’ll have to purchase the full game.
Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water, co-developed by Koei Tecmo Games, launches exclusively in the Nintendo eShop on Wii U on Oct. 22 for $49.99, just in time for Halloween. Players can download this free-to-start game and play the prologue, chapter 1 and most of chapter 2 for free. The full version of the game can be purchased as DLC directly from the Nintendo eShop or via the in-game menu.’
The game is releasing on October 22 and will be available for $49.99. If you’ve never played a Fatal Frame game before, do you plan on checking this one out, especially since you can play the first two chapters for free?
