Nintendo sent out a massive press release today that contained tons of information about upcoming releases for both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS games, but perhaps the most interesting is that the Super Mario Maker Wii U bundle will be exclusive to Walmart. This bundle also includes the Modern Mario amiibo and right now, is the only way to get the Modern Mario amiibo in North America.
The classic 8-bit Mario amiibo will have a separate release, but that doesn’t seem to be the case for those fans holding out for the Modern Mario amiibo. The bundle launches the same day as Super Mario Maker on September 11 and will retail for $299. The bundle includes a Wii U, a download code for the game, the Idea Book, and the Modern Mario amiibo.
Hopefully Nintendo of America will release a Modern Mario amiibo standalone for fans who want that color variation but already own a Wii U. If not, you’ll have to import it from Europe or Japan if you want to get your hands on it.
