GAME apologizes for pre-order mishap, charges should drop “soon”

Yesterday we told you about several people on Twitter who took to complaining about multiple charges for their pre-orders of Super Mario Maker. GAME tweeted to let those customers know that the issue is being resolved, but many found their bank accounts had been charged five to seven times for the pre-order of Super Mario Maker. This isn’t the first time this has happened to customers of GAME, either.

Now the company has sent out an apology email to those affected, letting them know that the extra charges will be reversed “in the next couple of days.” The real kicker here is that GAME is offering those affected no compensation, discount, or anything. Just a big, whoops we’re sorry we took hundreds of dollars out of your account for no discernable reason.

On Monday we became aware of an issue with some isolated orders. This has impacted a number of customers who pre-ordered the Wii U exclusive, Super Mario Maker. We have been working through crediting any pending transactions with our banking partners as a top priority. You should see these appear on your account over the next couple of days as we resolve everything ready for the product release on Friday.

Our warehouse are working hard and are packing everyone’s order ready for Friday. Please keep an eye out for your shipment confirmation email.

If you have any questions please contact our customer service team on this dedicated hotline number 01256 784400 or email us at We will also be posting updates on our @GAMEHelps twitter page.

Thank you for your patience and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Given that this isn’t the first time something like this has happened with GAME, I would be wary pre-ordering with them with anything but cash or a pre-paid card not linked to a bank account.
