EA boss, “We don’t make Wii U games because the market isn’t big enough”

The rift between Nintendo and EA has been a few years in the making, but aside from the “unprecedented partnership” that former CEO John Ricitiello promised but never delivered on, there hasn’t been much of a reason to get excited about EA games for Nintendo fans. Now, EA CFO Blake Jorgensen has confirmed exactly why the Wii U doesn’t see EA games.

When asked whether or not EA would be supporting VR now that the Oculus Rift and Samsung VR Headsets are upon us, he explained that EA’s policy on developing for that technology is the same as its policy for the Wii U and the PS Vita.

We don’t make games anymore for the Wii or the Wii U because the market is not big enough, the PS Vita – the Sony product – we don’t make games for that anymore because the market is too small, so it’s all about the size of the market.

While the writing was pretty much on the wall when Peter Moore described the box as an “offline box in an online world,” at least EA is finally owning up to the real reason why they don’t make Wii U games, rather than blaming the hardware itself.
