Super Mario Maker launched with a small mini-game familiar to Mario Paint players, where you’re given a set limit to kill every bug on screen. If you manage to complete the mini-game in time, you unlock the Builder Mario sprite, which is the costume you see Mario wearing on the Super Mario Maker box-art.
A new update for Super Mario Maker is scheduled to go live today and it contains a new hard mode for Gnat Attack. Beating this hard mode will give players an additional costume, which spriters have discovered from the Japanese update.
The costume unlocked is Fighter Fly, an enemy that appeared in the original Mario Bros. game and featured an erratic jumping pattern. Will you be attempting to unlock this costume when the update releases later today?
