Napster was a hugely popular if illegitimate music service that seems like a hold-over from the late 90s internet. The company is actually legit now and offers more than 34 million music tracks in its subscription service that functions similarly to Spotify.
According to the announcement, the European eShop will receive the Napster app on December 17. If you’ve never used the service before, you can get a 30 day free trial when you sign-up. The app seems to offer a lot of the same functions as Spotify, as you’ll be able to create and curate playlists, have curated radio stations, and stream any song you want as part of your subscription.
No word on if this will hop the pond, but we’re not holding our breath.
