The Shovel Knight amiibo garnered a lot of attention among Nintendo fans, as it’s the first third-party official amiibo that has been produced by Nintendo. The amiibo itself adds a ton of cool new features, including an exclusive co-op mode that only works with the Wii U version of the game.
While the new player appears as a green duplicate Shovel Knight, there are actually options that allow you to customize the appearance, as well as several amiibo challenge levels that will give you a run for your money.
The amiibo is releasing on December 11 in Europe, while fans in North America will have to wait until January 8. According to the blog post on Yacht Club Games’ website, the reason North America has been delayed a month is production issues with the amiibo. The team made the decision to ship after Christmas in order to have a healthy supply of amiibo to try and minimize the effect of scalpers.
