To say that Wii U sales are struggling would be an understatement. The console hasn’t been selling well all year in any territory, and that includes North America as well.
NPD just revealed that the Wii U sold about 28,000 units in May in North America — that’s the worst sales month since the console launched in 2012. No Wii U games were found in the top 10 list either.
It’s not that big of a surprise — the last big first party Wii U game was released 8 months ago (Super Mario Maker). The more recently released Star Fox Zero has been a dud, to say the least.
In more uplifting news, Nintendo announced that the 3DS has surpassed 60 million units sold worldwide, making it one of the best selling video game consoles of all time.
